Title: Papaya problem
Post by: Lovetoplant on October 25, 2020, 06:20:57 PM
Hello, anyone has idea what happened to this papaya tree?  Top young shoots turn brown/wilted and dropped like pictures.

How to treat it?

Many thanks

I had a mite infestation on a few papayas in the past but they  just got deformed new growth and very weak at that. But maybe if its an extreme case ,they could souse a dying tissue issue. In my case they were concentrated on the new growth , just like with your plant.

Thank you both Lebmung and Platinyum for your opinion.  Will spray some insecticide and see if that will help.

almost certainly a pest attacking the tips and mites and hemipterans are the usual suspects.

I inspected the leaves and didn't find any pest/insect on the leaves.  My other papaya trees are not showing any of this symptom.

Could it be something fungal then , a close up of the place could help someone diagnose it .
