I have seen many kumquat trees with lots of fruits. It seems all the Nagami kumquat trees I know from friends and fruit collectors has the most fruits. Meiwa might be the worst fruit production of the kumquats.

So, to give you an example, I have seen Nagami trees that are in pots (4-5 ft tall) with over 500 ripe fruits at a time. Also have seen last year ripened Nagami fruits on in-ground older trees (maybe 7-15 yrs) with over 2,000 fruits. You can pick 1 pound of fruits daily for a few weeks. I got some of those very productve tree cuttings and have gotten fruits on the grafts the next year. I did have some photos but now I can't find it. If I find the photos, I will post it for you. These trees are from 4-5 people I know. I have Meiwa, Maru, and Nagami (recent graft, small branch) and the Meiwa has low fruit production. But when I went to the UCR/CCPP citrus research grove, their Maru (older trees) had good number of fruits that we got to pick and eat. The Nagami trees there at UCR still had the most fruits. It's really easy to spot a healty Nagami tree when it has fruits, it is usually completley covered with fruits so the entire canopy will be orange color and fruits galore.

The seedless nagami (Nordmann kumquat) also has the same amount of fruits (tons) just like the seeded version, Nagami. I can find the photo of the Nordmann fruits since I remember recently taking photos of that tree this year.

Where can you buy the fruit to taste it?

I like your list of budwood ordered.

What made you pick the Atwood navel, is there something special you like about that one?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Himalayan Mulberries
« on: April 22, 2024, 06:35:07 PM »
I have both grafted. I don't thnk they are the same or Marta would have mentioned it in her blogs. I read her review on Naples but I don't think she is growing the FSP Himalayan.

You can read about the FSP Himalayan on the Florida Fruit Geek website (Craig).

https://floridafruitgeek.com/2021/06/30/growing-the-fruit-and-spice-parks-variety-of-himalayan-mulberry-in-north-florida/

It's not so easy to find direct comparisons of these Himalayan red fruiting mulberries. He also talks about the FSP park so you can read up on it. I hear some people say you can pick up the fruit to eat it, but i have no first hand experience there.

Wow, didn't know you grew so many fruit trees in your greenhouse, very nice and healthy trees.

Nice video G

Brain, maybe you should add the giant yellow passion fruit vine in one area of your greenhouse. Fruit tastes good.

6
Yup, it tastes good also, not just a big fat fruit and watery like some large ones.

I only have a very limited quantity of scion wood of this one.

7
Here's my photos from yesterday's tasting.

Ok, I have maybe enough extra cuttings for 5 people, I finished grafting to my trees.

See my post here if you want to be one of those 5 who gets it.

It looks like I will have some cuttings I can sell of the Marcus Pumpkin avocado cuttings from a mature tree that is about 30 feet tall, has been fruiting for many years.

I did get to taste half a fruit that was already picked and left in the refrigerator for a few weeks at least. It has yellow flesh, looks similar to a giant Reed to me. Taste is good, creamy, sweet, I liked it.

I planned to just graft them to my trees, but it appears I have some extra to share. I am limiting the purchase of only 1 to a member.

1.) Marcus Pumpkin cutting, qty=1, $20
2.) Cuttings will be about 1/4" diameter scions, length about 6 ", minimum of 4 leaf nodes.
3). You must be a forum member for 6 months minimum, no exception. Please don't message me if you don't meet this requirement.
4.) Shipping cost $11, USPS small flat rate box.
5.) Total Cost = $31
6.) PayPal payment only, use Friends & Family option to pay.
7.) Lower 48 state.
8,) I have the right to refuse to sell to anyone, if I don't reply to your message, I will not sell it to you.
9.) Send me a message to make the purchase, not requesting below on this post.

I'll post some photos later.

Ok, I did go over there Robert. Got some of the last fruit they had in the refrigerator so I can do a taste test for myself.

I will post photos later. This fruit has yellow flesh, just like a Reed. The taste is creamy, but also very similar in taste to the Reeds I got from Brad a year ago. So yes, this avocado is a winner, I will graft it to my trees and hope to get some fruits in a few years.

I did not get a whole fruit, so I don't know the weight of one fruit. I do have half the avocado fruit, and a seed so I can add them up and figure out the approximate weight of one fruit. All his fruits on the tree are about this size.

I tried grating some named varieties of canistel on my seedling trees (2) and none of them took. I did this a few times and both times they failed. I hope the lucuma grafting will be better.

Thats interesting to see your results. I just worked our CRFG plant sale today and there were many Orton grafted 1 gal plants. I didn't know they were that good. I like the El Bumpo, Dr White, Pierce, and Dream or Arka Shan from what I tasted so far.

15
Over now.

But if you live local, we still have online plant sale, you need to pickup since they do not mail any plants. Just check the OC CRFG website to see what plants are left for sale.

16
water works, I do that with most of my passion fruit cuttings.

I will update this sale today.

I will be finished shipping out all orders by Friday, and I still have extra cuttings. So if you want to buy 1-2 cuttings, send me a message. Here's the update for the sale:

1. Large Yellow Passion fruit cutting, qty=2 max, let me know the quantity you like to buy.

2. You must be a TFF forum member for a minimum of 6 months.

3a. Cost is $10 for one cutting, length that will fit a USPS small flat rate box (5"x8")

3b. For CA residence, I should be able to use a slightly longer box (for same ship cost) for your cutting so it may be up to 12 inches long, and probably can have some leaves on the cut branch for rooting.

4. Cost to ship is USPS priority, $11. This is the small flat rate box, typically 2-day delivery.

5. Total Cost => $21 for 1 cutting.
5a. Total Cost => $31 fpr 2 cuttings.

6. Payment with PayPal only, "Friends & Family" option.

7. Lower 48 states

8. I have the right to refuse to sell to anyone, if I don't reply then you are not getting on the list.

9. Send me a message to make the purchase. I will provide Paypal info, and after shipping you will get a tracking number (USPS priority mail).

These cutitngs were taken last weekend, 4/13-4/14. Passion fruit cuttings keep for a few weeks with no problem as long as it has moisture and out of the sun.

Ok, thank you for the English translation of your info, appreciate it.

Yes, maybe someone got the seeds from the Carmine fruits and grew it in Taiwan since this one seems to be the only one I know around here on the forums that is this large. No one has mentioned they grow it yet.

That's why I'm sharing the cuttings with 10-20 members of this forum so next year, they can spread cuttings to other friends, and we should be able to archive this nice guava fruit. I'm also growing out as many seeds as I can from the fruits so that if the people who bought the cuttings are not successful grafting or rooting it, I should have seedlings next year to share. I just so happy that I stumbled across this wonderful guava.

So, maybe the Sylvia guava grows larger (weight) than any of the Carmine series so it may not be from the same family of guavas.

Yes, I figured that much from my web search. Just don't know many people who grow it, or have tasted it

Sir Graftalot, if you have eaten any of them, and measured the weight, can you reply to my question on weight as well.

Sir Graftalot, sorry but my question was for the person who posted all these new photos from China.

=> fanshiliu, please reply if you can to my questions.

24
No, he only had that last one in his refrig, I guess I can go and ask him to let me try 1/4 of the fruit since we seem to be having a conflicting taste results.

Let me email the guy since I'm going over there tomorrow and see if he can save me a little piece to try or it will be another 12-18 months for the next round of ripe fruits from his tree.

What is the difference between the Four Season Red and Carmine?

Is it because Four Season Red has fruits all four season of the year?

I think the Sylvia guava I found is more similar to the Four Season than the Carmine. Can you tell me the weight of the largest Four Season fruits?

The largest Sylvia guava (if you saw my posts) is 243 grams, which is larger than any Carmine photos I have seen.
