I'm getting a seed from this one apparently comes from Puerto Rico from the Finca of a man call Felipe, who I was told passed away few months ago, got reports that the flavor is not sweet and acid like in Achachairu, but more neutral...

Looks like G. macrophylla Raul.

It's not gardneriana, intermedia, achachairu, edulis, or madruno.

Actually, after examining the rind closer... it doesn't look like macrophylla either. I think you might have Garcinia sp. described as "Madrono de Monte"... or it could be some other variant of madrono. There seems to be a variety of bumpy/rough skin garcinias named as a "madrono". Sadhu sells different types. Yours could be another variant?

Madrono de Monte?

Helloo,

A garcinia freak over here. I got a couple of those trees. The local name or the name Felipe named it is Garcinia Pungara. Flavor is pretty similar to achachairu just a bit more acidic but bigger in size. Fruit usually contains 3 seeds. Im gonna try attaching a picture so lets see if it works

I believe it's not yet described as a species, so it would be, Garcinia sp. "Pungara"

Interesting. So possibly a two different trees we are talking about here. Would be helpful if abimael and garcinus post photos of their trees to see if match?

Hi friends
I dont know how to post a photo on the forum.
I saw adults trees on the estate of Felipe but I have not photos. I have 3 small Pungara trees and small of this Garcinia. The fruit of that Pungara has well pronounced bumps, it maybe a variation, I had never seen this Pungara fruit anywhere. I had a picture of that Pungara but do not get it.
I saw some photos of Garcinia sp Rusty in this web

Im pretty sure that all the fruit's pictures are the same fruit. I only have seedlings and i will try to post pics of them in the afternoon. Also, Abimael can you describe the pungara you had, like shape and flavor.

Hi all you gays for your input, the pics I got from Abimael and Garcinius "Pungara" look similar to me, however Abimael describes flavor like Achachairu but with no acidity, and Garcinius says more acid than Achachairu, maybe just different ripening of the fruit, also Abimael has seen 2 dif.  Trees, it also could he a variation of "dwfl"  pics of madroño de monte, just less bumpy and with the longer nipped at the end...

Yeah stretch/crack marks on the rind. No rough/bumpy surface of the rind either. Different from the original fruit photo Raul posted.

Hi friends
dwfl the Felipe's property is for sale ( half million dollar)
Raul I was figuring out with my friend David from Montoso Garden and told me that photos of machabuca are the fruits photos of Felipe.
He tells me that the picture of that fruit should be on that page.
The Pungara of Felipe have similar flavor of giant madroño
