Recently learned from another forum member that you can fuse two rootstocks and graft one scion onto the fused "double rootstock" for increased growth, health and production. I assume this would work great for slow fruiting species and zone pushers.

Does anyone have data on this?

If I graft onto a side branch leaving the main branch alone, will the fact that I grafted the tree slow down its ability to mature and fruit from the main branch (not grafted)?

My goal is to graft onto side branches and receive named varietal fruit without interrupting the fruiting of the seedling varieties for selection purposes. Can I have my cake and eat it too?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sand into soil

Objective: turn sand into soil

So far I have chop and dropped native plant material and brought in many lbs of coffee grinds. I plan on bringing in dirt, mulch, manure and peat as well as making my own biochar and compost on site.

What's the most efficient way to go about doing this?
What cover crop should I plant now? Will it grow from bare sand? Can it be done without irrigation?

All feedback is appreciated.

Found this growing next to a mango seedling in my backyard so I potted it up. I've searched several identification sites trying to figure this out to no avail. Its growth rate is medium and I'm in 10b. Anyone!?

Leaves are alternate growing
Exstipulate - no stipulate
Leaves are unifoliate, but the first two leaves were trifoliate and have since fallen off
Leaf margin: entire
Leaf apex: acuminate
Leaf venation: reticulate unicostate

Recently picked up a sugar apple and found this guy catching a free ride. The growth is similar to a mango but the leaves are half the size. Any ideas?

Hello all,

Recently received seeds for A. paludosa and A. duckei from trade winds figuring I would give them a go. My goal is to try grafting other annonas to create hybrid fruit as well as the delight of trying the duckei/paludosa fruits themselves. Anyone have experience with these species? I would appreciate any info as I'm a novice.
