Thanks for the kind words.

Pacuri is very cold hardy and fast growing for a Garcinia. Luc’s will take temperatures into the 30’s no problem. I don’t know how low both of these will go.

A couple people asked for photos of the largest Russell’s Sweet plants that I have. So here they are.

These are all seedlings.  As far as I'm concerned that is the best way to propagate Garcinia.  There are just too many unknowns about rootstock compatibility or delayed compatibility issues.

Southerncatropicals, that is a good looking plant.  I is probably planted in the perfect spot with mostly shade.  I would recommend other fertilizers in addition to the fish emulsion to get a more balanced fertilizer.

My plant flowered three times this summer!  It has at least two fruit on it now.  I need to take a better look at it because it may have more.

I still have plants available.

Thanks,

I still have plants available.  I also have some two gallon plants that I can ship.

Thanks,
Bill

This post confuses me.  You keep calling this Pacuri.  Is this the same as the Garcinia sp. Pacuri that you have sold seeds for before?  Or is this something different?

Thanks,
Bill

Oops. Posted by mistake.

In AeAe a lower ph will cause more variegation. Maybe the same is true for the Variegated Florida.

Hi all, I have several Paggi banana plants for sale. I am going to stop growing this variety and I would like to spread the genetics around. This is a very rare variety. For me this variety really struggles with my cool mild summers. I think it needs to be grown in areas with more heat. Such as Riverside, Corona or anywhere more than five miles from the coast. I'm 2.5 miles from the beach and my summers are mild. The plant grows very slow for me and produces medium size bunches of very good fruit. People growing this variety in areas with a lot of heat, ie Texas, Florida, Hawaii etc, report that it grows and tastes great. Several have reported it being their favorite banana variety. I received this variety from a college professor who obtained it from the USDA. I have 5 gallon plants for sale for $30 each. These are pictured below. I also have some 1.5 gallon plants available for $30 each. THESE I CAN SHIP.

Thanks,
Bill

Available right now for local pickup I have

Blue Java 7 gallon $75
California Gold 5 gallon $40
Dwarf Brazilian 2 gallon $35 and 5 gallon $40
Mysore 5 gallon $40
Paggi 2 gallon $35 and 5 gallon $40

I am going to stop growing and selling Paggi.  For me it grows very slow and struggles with my cool summer temperatures.  For people who grow it with more heat is supposed to be an excellent variety.  People who grow it in Florida and Texas rave about the quality of the fruit.  If you want it get it now while I still have some available.  I have 1.5 gallon plants that I can ship.  These cost $30 plus shipping.

I have a 1.5 gallon Dwarf Brazilian for $35 that I can ship.

Thanks

I have one left. It is in a larger pot so shipping will cost a little more.

Hi all, these are grafted onto Cherimoya rootstock.  They are in 14" tall pots so they can grow a deep tap root.  They will be shipped in the pot with the soilless media they are growing in.  Nothing will be trimmed or removed.

Hunucma Amarilla Reticulata is an excellent tasting and beautiful fruit.  This is a newer variety that was introduced by JF here on this forum.  It is reported to have low grit and taste great.  It grows well here in Socal and has survived several winters unprotected outdoors.  PM if interested.  $90 each plus shipping.

Thanks
Bill

I believe both of these plants are sold.  But I do have California Gold, Dwarf Brazilian and Paggi banana plants available to ship.  They cost $35 each.

I have two 2 gallon size plants for sale.  For me this is the Holy Grail of bananas.  It produces large delicious bananas but on a shorter plant with a thick pseudostem that won't fall over.  It is cold sensitive and slow growing here in Southern California.  But it grows and fruits fine.  It should flourish in Florida or other places with lots of heat.  This is a very rare variety.  I only have two plants available.  I will have more available next year.  $70 each plus shipping.

It is still flowering now. It has about 75% male and 25% female flowers.  I believe I also saw one hermaphrodite flower. I took a Quick Look yesterday and saw about six fruitlets. So hopefully I’ll be eating Lucs Garcinia next summer.

I sell some of these.  Do a search for my listing here.  Right now the only variety I have available to ship is California Gold.  It is very cold hardy, stays short and never needs propping.  It is excellent when cooked as a plantain.  It can be eaten fresh and is very good, not excellent, but very good.  It is a good dual purpose variety.  2 gallon plants are $35 plus shipping.

One left. Five gallon pot. About three feet tall. Flowering now. $100

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best Cold Hardy Banana Varieties?

Goldfinger is a good one. Taste is similar to Dwarf Brazilian but a little sweeter. And it doesn’t need propping.
