ISO Banana Pups (Dwarf Red and Raja Puri)
« on: May 07, 2022, 09:30:41 PM »
I only need one pup of each.  Does anyone in Broward or PB County have both at this time?  Or even one or the other?

Cool, S.  Do you have a pup for me?  Do you have any other variety?

I should. I have another pome type banana that's pretty good.
It's fruiting now if you want to try

Just curious, skhan.....   What exactly is a 'pome type' banana, please?  Haven't heard that term before.

What banana cultivars would the 'pome type' include?  Would that be ones like 'apple banana', etc.?

Regards,

Paul M.

"The Pome subgroup (genome group AAB) comprises cultivars whose fruit has a sub-acid and apple-like taste."  (I used to have to go to an actual physical library for information before personal computers and Google!)

https://www.promusa.org/Pome+subgroup

It's a Triploid type AAB.
But that's as far as we could go to find out the variety type.
I was in the banana forum for a bit looking into an ID.

Thanx for the pome explanation, John.

It makes sense now.

Cheers!
