The first video you can see the neighbors lawn guys walk off with two full bags of orange sherbet.

The other family looks like they only got a hand full

I just lost two huge soursops yesterday. I installed 13 cameras prior to it and got their license plate and filed report with police. They dont seem to care. I went through my camera and noticed they came several days ago and scouted it out but someone was home. They waited until 6 am a few days later and came back when lights were off.

I did harvest a soursop a few days prior and when i cut into it it was completely seedless. It was a perfectly shaped fruit too. The other two fruit were on the same branch and was thinking I may have a mutation and just want to know now if the other fruit had seeds. all the fruit on that branch were setting perfectly shaped fruit without hand pollination.

Get stakes that say no trespassing. Sorry this happened man..  get the landscapers info and send him an invoice. I’m also looking to switch from Ring myself, it notoriously fails.

Dont just write this off, they or their friends will be back. Make it more trouble to them than its worth

It looks like the second family confused your property for a upick. I can't believe they were just casually walking through your yard like that.

I wonder if there are ways to find someone's name and address from their license plate. On principle, it might be fun to hire a PI to find the person and surveil them and then send them a demand letter for the soursop theft.

I can. My mother in law in Tampa had a massive Carrie in her fully fenced front yard. People would open the gate right near the front door and casually start bagging up. Like the tree was there just for them. Some people actually think they're that entitled.

O wow, thats terribile.
And thats a good type of soursop too.
Its crazy the lengths some of these people go through to steal fruit.

Hopefully, I'll be home next time they come.
I'll talk to my neighbors next time I see them.

Since some of the fruit is hanging over their yard and they have always been cool with me.
I'm hoping I can at least give them a cost so they can send an invoice and get a few free cuts

It is very upsetting to hear about thieves coming to steal a full bag of fruits. I heard from someone that when he caught a fruit thief and called the police, they came to his property. The police saw that there was no fence, and they told the owner to release the thief. Otherwise, the owner could be charged with holding someone against their will. The reason was simple: because the owner didn't have a fence on his property, public access was inadvertently allowed.

I believe this happened in California, and I'm not sure this law applies to all States.

This is sick. Stealing fruits is the same crime as stealing bicycle or your lawn mover. I would contact the police and made it very loud. And make them do something! Fence or not, this is your property boundary.

People are being emboldened by a lack of accountabilty and the general deterioration of the social contract. Unfortunate, but there's really nothing to do but put up fences and trail cameras if nobody else is willing to do anything.

To see somebody else taking advantage of what you built i'm sorry this happened

Law enforcement seems to be largely driven by citizen complaints and awareness efforts. Might be worth looking into making contact with local law enforcement and perhaps commissioners, etc. Not enforcing theft laws against fruit thieves will not lead to good places. I will vote against any politician who is not sensitive to the pains of fruit thievery.

Watching my ripening jakfruit like a hawk... likely not the only one.

Get stakes that say no trespassing.

Amazon sells attractive no trespassing signs. Our local police said they couldn't really do anything about people intruding unless there are no trespassing signs clearly posted.

For the fruit overhanging your neighbors yard, do they normally pick those? Tree laws can be a bit confusing, but there's no excuse for trespassing + theft.

I think about the effort that goes into getting a mango tree to that level of maturity and production. First, you research and select your variety. Buy the 3 gallon tree. Plant it, stake it, fertilize it, mulch it. Lovingly protect the trunk from string trimmer attacks. Fend off powdery mildew and pests. Keep adding compost and mulch. Tip the branches. Clip the early fruit for better harvest later on. Get an irrigation well and run bubbler lines to the trees. Gypsum, chelated iron, and proper pruning. Then you let the flowers turn to fruit and grow to full size as you wait patiently to harvest. Years invested, hours and hours of effort, loads of money spent.

Then some clown pulls up with a Publix bag and rips the fruit off the tree, almost always way too early to even taste it properly. Bastards.

Casually walk up to the yard guy's truck when he's in the backyard and do the ice pick thing in the sidewalls twice. Then your even Steven. 😉

Absolutely. Those looked like a great crop, I would have loved to try some named varieties for the cost you were charging, but unfortunately I'm in CA.

Glad to hear you won't be taken advantage of! We are with you

Catching a thief is one thing, and holding them until the police arrive is another. I didn't think about how the owner who caught the fruit thief ( previous my post) managed to hold them until the police arrived. I don't think the owner used a gun to keep them there. Then, I pictured someone like prime Arnold Schwarzenegger grabbing the thief's neck. ;D

I've encountered multiple fruit thieves. Don't waste your breath talking to talk it out. They'll lie their asses off. Stand your ground, have bear spray and machete. Let them know that it's your food and you'll die defending it

Hello skhan. Sorry you had to experience this. Anyone who’s had valuable things stolen knows it virtually always catches us off guard. Perseverance furthers.

That’s an interesting choice of weapons.
