We don't really have the time or energy for casual farm visits but have some tours from people interested in possibly purchasing our farm.  We'll make time for that.  We had accepted an offer from one potential buyer but the contract expired before he could arrange financing but he's still working on that but we're open to other offers because we're motivated to stop working so dang hard.

No worries-  thanks for the work bringing these to the bay area

In my travels this weekend I found something cool-

A very old, fruiting Yangmei tree

Looks like Arbutus unedo, if you find a good one not a bad fruit. Its more mealy texture and drier though.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Whoa, interesting eloicious, where did you find that? Certainly is Myrica due to the fact it doesn't have the orange bark indicative of Arbutus spp.
Grow cooler fruits

I am positive its Yangmei

I am a bit hesitant to share the location publicly, people might go there and be crazy- PM me

Given the green state of the fruit I am guess it might be a (very) late season cultivar

I thought Texas and mature tree fruit looks like can be Arbutus unedo (since yang mei is such a rare tree still). Congrats on the find, graft it up if you can get permission.

Biqi, Anhai, Dongkui, Shuijing (Crystal), Wusu (poor productivity here) plus about 5-6 other varieties in very limited numbers.

More Eastern Giant (Dongkui) went to Weee's warehouses in the Bay Area and LA yesterday.  We have more being picked tomorrow and expect that to be our final harvest for the year.  I enjoy eating yangmei but am tired and am looking forward to having a break.

Somebody younger should be doing this work, please find someone to buy our farm so we can retire!  :D  (Our real estate listing expired and I may pursue selling it directly for a bit.)

Great work out there Harvey. I enjoyed another box nice quality fruit last night.

Wish I could afford it, I'd take on your property in a second!

The latest order I received were packaged in plastic clamshells and not the paper boxes they’ve been coming in. I am wondering if this was done because of the labeling issues that have been happening. There were no markings of which variety it was.

We presently have one person trying to arrange financing to purchase our farm but are certainly open to other offers.  We have had a couple of people interested in our farm who don't have any farming experience and are busy with other businesses and were concerned that they could not hire someone to replace me to ensure the farm continued to be successful.  If someone here thinks that this is something they are qualified and interested in, please contact me and I can put you into contact with a potential buyer if that is something that interests them.  Sending me an email is best, my contact information is on my Figaholics website.

Yesterday was 115F and today was "only" 106F.  Naturally, now that harvest is over, we only are expected to reach 88F tomorrow!  Downright chilly, lol.  Meanwhile, in Madeira, Portugal temperatures are ranging from about 69 (lows) to 78!  The engineer with our contractor there thinks 78 is hot.

We are not moving to Portugal but last year bought about a half acre with a small home and barn across the street from where my grandmother grew up.  We'd like to spend at least a couple of months at a time there once we get our farm sold.  The climate there is very pleasant, we have a nice view of the ocean, and we have great neighbors.

We've also purchased a home in town about 10 minutes from our farm that came up in an area we really like since it's within walking distance to most things.  When someone buys our farm we will be available to help with the transition.
