Hi all, I have several species of Garcinia for sale.  I can ship these.

Garcinia sp. Pacuri is a fast growing and cold hardy Garcinia.  It is possibly a form of Brasiliensis.  The fruit tastes similar to Achachairu.  Because it grows fast and is cold hardy I believe it is an excellent variety to use as a rootstock for grafting.  I believe these are hermaphrodite.  Plants will have at least six leaves.  Quantity discounts!

One plant costs $30 plus shipping.
Two plants cost $55 plus shipping.
Four plants cost $100 plus shipping.
Eight plants cost $175 plus shipping.
Twelve plants cost $240 plus shipping.

Garcinia sp. Russell's Sweet.  These plants are very rare.  The fruit is very large and reported to taste excellent.  These are male and female so you will need multiple plants for cross germination.  These plants will have at least two leaves.

One plants costs $80 plus shipping.
Four plants cost $300 plus shipping.

Garcinia sp. Luc's.  This plant grows and excellent tasting, large fruit.  Plants can be male, female or hermaphrodite.  It is recommended to buy multiple plants for cross germination.  These plants will have at least eight leaves.  $35 each.

Thanks,
Bill

These are all seedlings.  As far as I'm concerned that is the best way to propagate Garcinia.  There are just too many unknowns about rootstock compatibility or delayed compatibility issues.

Pacuri is very cold hardy and fast growing for a Garcinia. Luc’s will take temperatures into the 30’s no problem. I don’t know how low both of these will go.

All of my Garcinias (Luc's, Livingstonei, Intermedia, Brasiliensis, Madruno, Humilis, Russell's) kept in a 35-40F greenhouse have died.  Some of these were in 10 gallon pots. The only Garcinia that survived is Dulcis. Bought the seeds from someone in Hawaii last summer; these are just tiny seedlings. Made it through this brutal winter without a speck on their leaves.

Are any of these cold tolerant?

My observations are that the cold tolerance of potted vs in-ground are not the same. Potted seem to have lower cold tolerance. Small garcinias in pots seem to handle cold better than large trees in pots.  My in-ground Luc's were not damaged at all by 32f. That said, my potted Luc's were exposed to 32f and also look great. My potted Lindero all died this year but I have an in-ground Lindero that was unprotected that only suffered damaged to unhardened leaves. Same with Macrophylla.

Sorry to here that you lost most of your Garcinias.  In pots you need excellent draining soil to prevent root rot.  Keep the soil dry during winter.  The tall tree pots help a lot.   They let the water accumulate at the bottom and give the roots more room to be in low moisture soil.

Just noticed that one of the Intermedia seedling I bought from you 3 years back is flowering. It spends the winters outside in a pot and does just fine in inland San Diego under a large Jacaranda.

Nice!!

I gotta get my garcinias in ground. The Luc's I got last year are tickling out the bottom right now.

That's great to see.  That is why I love Intermedia.  It starts to fruit at such a small size and you only need one.  Great variety to start with.
