WOW! Super exciting!! Would love to see pics as they ripen and hear about the fruit when sampled.

Is this first fruiting?  That looks like a big tree!  How long did you have to wait?

Thanks for sharing.  That is an investment for sure, it is nice to see it paying off for you.  I have never had kepe fruit but it sounds tasty

10 years from seed I assume?  And what is the diameter of the trunk?  Thank you in advance for sharing information!

I think that in the Yucatan you are going to want shade for Kepel and plenty of water..  it tolerates shade better than strong sun I think.

Thanks Peter! I can give plenty of water and definitely have a lot of shade around. Hopefully the alkaline water we have isn't too hard on it. So far so good though!

Hi Peter, hope you are well! I planted a bunch of Kepel seeds that I got from fruit in the Puerto Viejo markets. I noticed that in my 4 inch pots they put out a long tap root, but no upward stem. Is this normal? I've considered putting them in deeper nursery bags but don't want to dampen off the seed. Any recommendations?

Kepel looks strange when it germinates.  It takes a while then sprouts a dark, narrow stem with no leaves.  Hang in there, this is how it goes.

Thanks for the reply! I'll hold tight and see what happens! Sure does seem an unusual germination process! The tap roots are almost an inch out of the bottom of the pots already!
