Jackfruit trees dying - Help please!
« on: May 14, 2025, 11:00:02 PM »
Hello,

I live in the Caribbean. My 2 jackfruit trees (roughly 2 years old) are both dying. I was away for a month, and when I came back I noticed lots of holes on all of the leaves (picture attached). Afterwards, I also noticed that some leaves were burnt (black around the edges). Now all the leaves are falling  :-[  :-[  :-[  I try to water them once a day, at sunset, if it didn't rain. Recently I added a mix of  manure and soil at the base, and covered it with dry leaves, as I thought tat perhaps the burnt leaves meant that there wasn't enough moisture, and it needed more nutrients. It doesn't seem to help.

I don't know what else to do. Could anyone help please? I wonder if the trees were attacked by some pests, but not idea what as I didn't see anything on the trees, and what to do to avoid this.

Thanks so much!

Sounds like you've taken the best corrective action you can. They are tough trees and should survive. Assuming they are planted in the ground.

Yes, they are planted in the ground. Thank you. I shall cross my fingers and pray then!

Personally, I would use microorganisms.  An EM type culture of lactic acid micros ot trachederma culture applied as a drench to the root feeding area and perhaps on the foliage as well.
