Pedalai, Huge tree but no fruit..
« on: June 27, 2025, 05:09:23 AM »
Anyone know at what size Pedalai start flowering?
Got one Pedalai that is close to 13m tall, with a buttressed trunk (<45cm at 1.2m) and still no flowers, it's a lot bigger than all ourMarang and our Marang start flower/fruit when trunk diameter is over 15-20 cm.

It's looking very healthy.
Seams like they go huge before flowering :(

I know of a tree, the fruit are literally impossible for me to get to , unless I get some Spider-Man like climbing skills

Mine fruited after 10 years. Even with aggressive size and shape managment still managed to become a monster size. Growing pedalai without training is pointless. You'll never get fruits. Too high up. With training maybe 50% can be recovered.

Marang trees are much more manageable and can be trained well.  Cut at about 1.5 meters. After 3-4 new leaders grow, cut them all when about 1 meter long. That's all you have to do. Got compact, low,  well branched tree for life
