Hi.  Miguel in Portugal often has seeds for sale.  Seems like some of them are improved varieties.
However, twice in my life I've had the Fed's visit me due to international purchases.  (When I lived in Virginia 15 years ago, had purchased seeds on eBay from a Chilean seller.  Apparently not all of his seeds were legit and was throwing in some noxious weeds.  Luckily, nothing i bought germinated but that didn't stop the feds from coming to my house twice.  Once to do a general check, 2nd time to do a thorough check of my yard.  And then about 10 years ago, I purchased from Thailand 2 supposed improved varieties of wax apples.  Even though they came with sanitary certificate, the feds said there were bugs coming over from Thailand.  Some, I had to double bag the small tree and put it on my front porch for them to collect and incinerate.  I told the man that I enjoyed collecting rare fruit trees and he advised me to only purchase from within USA territory.)
So, I kind of feel like I am on a list somewhere in DC and I don't want to oress my luck.
That's why I am asking if anyone regularly gets seeds from Portugal, can we work out where we split the cost and split the seeds but they get sent to you.  I live in Scottsdale, AZ if anyone close to me buts them, if not I guess can be anywhere in USA.

Who is Miguel? I want to buy from him. Since I'm in the EU it is best

Hello everyone! Day 21!!!

I am not picky about scion varieties, I'm desperate, any scion within the EU, right now, a really nice and kind guy from Madeira island offered me manga rosa, but I need one more variety, any variety, just not lemon zest or Carrie, or manga rosa. Right now I'm in a bigger need for seeds, Nam Dok Mai Si Thong seeds, please if you have them contact me (even if you are outside the EU)

Thank you!!!

Saw nam doc mai in canarius.com a while back. They have lots of different mangoes.

Thanks for the site, I'm currently looking for Nam dok mai si thong seeds and the varieties I listed a while ago for scions.

Hi, thank you for answering! I can give you my address in private and you can then calculate a shipping estimate and agree upon it. Do you happen to be in the EU?

First things first, I'm a hobbist and i love mangoes. The problem is super market mangoes taste horrible here, so I started a project 3 years ago. A potted mango, on my balcony during summer and inside during winter.

My mango is all grown up now and ready for a graft, the thing is, I barely even found mango trees for sale in the EU, not even close to finding scions or seeds. And even so, the varieties I found aren't really my favorites.

If anyone is wondering, the reasons I don't buy from outside the EU are:
1. Small survivability for scions
2. Ridiculous costs ($70 only the phytosanitary certificate + shipping, and in my country it's a lot)

So if you are from the EU, and can help me, please please contact me!

If you are not from the EU, you can still help! If you are willing you can send me some of your polyembrionic mango varieties' seeds, without a phyto certificate, they might be thrown away, or they might be held on to, but hey, there is a chance they will pass, and maybe you would have thrown it away anyways, so, why not give it a shot?

I'm going to give updates weekly, updating you on how many days have passed, and if I got results. If you think it's annoying please let me know to stop!

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Mango Seeds
« on: May 08, 2025, 03:16:40 PM »
I'm looking for mango seeds, I know it's early, but I wanted to start looking early. If you have purple / normal Nam Doc Mai, Pickering or even Ataulfo (worst case scenario) trees, please reply to this and keep me some fresh seeds on the side once you get them. Also do any of you know if you need a phytosanitary certificate for importing seeds in the EU?

I know it's probably not the season for this, but does anyone have Pickering and Nam Doc Mai mango seeds? I want to buy some. Also, do seeds need a phytosanitary certificate to ship to the EU?

Hey everyone, I have given up on trying to grow all these kind of tropical and rare fruits. And now I'm looking for recommendations of fruits that can grow here!

Now I just want to enjoy what nature gives here, in zone 7a, without greenhouses. Please leave a comment down below with your favourite fruits that you have successfully grown in zone 7a, also include variety of you can!

Thanks to everyone that will reply!

So lately I have been constantly debating about whether I should get paw paw trees or not. I really want to taste and get one but I have read some articles that it contains neurotoxins that kill your neurons. Does anyone know more about this topic and if they are actually harmful or not?

Thank you so much for your response, and for the effort you put in! Unfortunately I read some really questionable articles and got scared. I read that it contains neurotoxins and kills your nerves or something, I do not know if it's true but I tought it's better to not take the risk. If you know more about this, please tell me!

Thank you so much!

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Paw Paw varieties taste
« on: March 08, 2025, 01:20:57 AM »
Hi everyone,

I started thinking about getting paw paw and i don’t know which variety to get, i reasercjed on ther forums and got even more confused since everyone likes different varieties.

For me, I would like one with strong banana, vanilla and crème brûlée. I was thinking about shenandoah for this but i heard it’s really bland, and I do want to actually taste flavours when eating fruits, but maybe you don’t thiks it’s that bland and it’s fine (if this is what you think please tell me)

And for the second one, I want a really tropical one, that tastes like mango, pineapple or even coconut.

It is really important the the two varieties you will recommend can pollinate eachother if they are the only one in the backyard.

As for texture, I am looking for a really mushy either custardy texture either exactly like banan puree

I don’t want to go risky and get varieties with aftertaste, so please try to avoid those.

Thank you all in advance!

Hey, my most wanted list still hasn't changed, I'm still patiently waiting to buy a mango scion, if anyone in Europe has one.

3. Mallika
4. Dwarf Hawaiian

Hi everyone, I have been going crazy to get some mango scions recently. It was an extremely frustrating journey since it seems like nobody has mango trees in Europe, and importing is really hard now because of that phytosanitary certificate. If you have mango scions and you are located in Europe, please contact me, I don't really have anything valuable to trade, but I'd be more than happy to buy some scions. Also any tips about grafting season and methods are welcome, for context my mango is 3 years old and is planted in a pot with 35 cm in diameter, and 32,2 cm height (I do not know if this is enough for it to fruit).
So is it actually impossible to buy mango scions in Europe. Please don't judge the fact that I replied to myself so that my post will get a bit more visibility.

Hi,
late reply but I know the guy who has Maha Chanok and couple of varieties that is not usual. If you are intereste, please let me know.
Slaven
I am interested, please tell me more about this guy, I want to buy from him.
