why no Pouteria australis / Planchonella australis seeds?
« on: July 29, 2017, 08:08:12 AM »
I'm interested in growing the Australian fruit called Black Apple (Pouteria australis or Planchonella australis) here in California, but it seems that no one sells the seeds. I've tried emailing a few Australian growers who have the trees listed online, but none of them were interested in selling seeds of the plant.

Does anyone know where to find fresh Black Apple seeds and/or why this species is not more popular outside of Australia?

Try asking someone from PNG or Indonesia...bet you would have much better luck.

I would be surprised if there is a single tree in either Indonesia or PNG and I have never seen one in north Queensland even though they are native just 1800km to the south of me. A few years ago I received seeds from a Brisbane (or was it Sydney?) grower and spread them around.

Hello, I realise this is a very old post but just in case anyone is still interested, I sell Planchonella australis (Black Apple) seed from Australia
