Tropical Fruit Discussion / 13-1 Mango is the future for Arizona and Southern California

I bought a 13-1 mango seedling from Alex at Tropical Acres Farms in FL four months ago. I've been waiting a long time for the 13-1 to become available. It's a rootstock they use in Israel that tolerates salty high pH desert soil better.
Mine has been planted in the ground for only 3.5 months now. At first it gradually dropped half of it's leaves. I was thinking #$%@ it's even worst than all the other mangos I've tried. I know some people grow mangos ok here in Phoenix, but mangos seem to dislike my soil more than usual. Don't blame my skills because I can grow loquat, nectarines and starfruit here that other people struggle with.
But then it started flushing new growth. It's on its 3rd growth flush now in 110F+ Phoenix heat. It gets about 6 hours of full sun in the middle of the day, so it's shade by the house before 3pm.
Is the 13-1 mango "a new hope" for us in the Southwest or just a new hype by yours truly?!
Here's a pic of it giving the Arizona Sun the middle finger:
