MEMBERS AND NEWBS...PLEASE HELP US, AND ME!! PUT ZONE of AREA!
« on: January 24, 2012, 03:58:21 PM »
Hey Members!

I noticed how Oscar of Fruitlovers 8) set up his profile, with his zone and location...if you don't feel comfortable with your location, at least put your zone, so your comments are in context when I (and others of course) read them!!!

I keep thinking some of the members are in FL or CA, and they are OH or NY!!! so their comments or pictures look way off to me when I read comments!!  ???

Thanks for the template Oscar! Sorry to bite your style! :-[ :-[ :-[ ;) 8)

Adam :)

Anybody know of a zone map that covers the Caribbean? Extrapolating from the USDA map I think Aruba would be in the 13 range, since it never gets below 75F down here...

happyisland:
Go to this site for a USDA map and click on Puerto Rico for an expanded view of the tropical climactic zones. The temperature limits are easier to read.

Cool. Thanks! Since Aruba's lowest temps recorded in the past 10 years were in the low 70s I guess that makes us zone 14a?

This map can be misleading, according to it I am in the same zone as South Miami. With Tropicals, the difference of 3-5 degrees is night and day.  They should try and make it more detailed, as I saw 26 degrees just last winter, and 25 the year before that!

Keep in mind that this map shows the AVERAGE low temps from 1976-2005.  There are going to be some years that are colder (like the last two) and some that will be warmer (like this year so far).

Done! Though I've apparently transitioned from zone 9b to 10a with the new USDA map I put both on :)
