Cold temps in tampa

looks like it will be going down to 35 tomorrow night in Tampa.  Should I worry about my Mangos that are in bloom?  Or my Avocado trees?

Forecasted temps are just an estimation. Might be colder or not as cold in your area depending on your surroundings. 32F (freezing temp) is the killer. Back to back 32F or lower is the knock out punch. My area is forecasting 36F low for Tuesday. I believe mango blooms are injured around 35F :/ . Hopefully its not as bad as the winter of Jan 2018.

i was contemplating on preparing this weekend just to be prudent. It could dip down further then forecasted.

Yeah I guess I will try to cover them.  If the blooms get hit at 35.  Tough thing is the blooms are so fragile hard to cover them without damaging them

Calling for 33* here in Lakeland at this point for Wednesday morning. In January 2018 my mexicola avocado was blooming when we hit 25* and it didn't care still setting a lot of fruit. I have four mangos blooming right now so I may lose the bloom there. May prune it all off after and let it rebloom. We'll see what happens.

Fine tuning was more time consuming then i thought but i am glad i did Returned 250 watt and exchanged for 125 watt lambs bulbs. Cheap light fixtures would not be able to handle that much heat. Weather forecast for my area Wednesday is 36 degrees my Rosie gold has fruit set if i can raise temp few degree my save them. Most of my trees on south side of house and there is a dryer vent close to Rosie Pickering and E-4  Early morning maybe good time to dry some clothes. Going  to test a thermostat switch on non flowering tree and old reliable timer switch on the rest.

It is a couple degrees warmer here at this time than predicted.  Hopefully tonight will be the same.  I am going to go with the lights.

Only went down to 43 this morning. Since tonight will be colder I will cover a few of my mangos just to be safe and for once add some incandescent light fixtures and Christmas lights. Hopefully it will protect things. Definitely do not want a repeat of a couple years ago

If i plead mango madness, do I dare chance my wife's  wrath and use her poodles hair dryers to put under my most northern exposed tree? lol

Thermostat switch worked as advertise came on  4:38 am at 38 degrees kicked off around 9:00 am in the 40ish range. Dryer vent worked well kept me warm as i Serenades my trees with beach boy music. I will use 4" splitter plus reducers to  assist 4 top tier trees .   January 2018 was wake up call for me. I am open to any and all ideas.
I remember in late 1980s  driving down canoe creek rd though a low area in Osceola County and seeing a slight snow furry

I added christmas lights to my Tree no apparent damage.... recorded Temps here in Apollo Beach only hit 36 for just over an hour.
