I wanted to know if any of the SoCal mango enthusiasts are interested in a tour of LaVerne Nursery in Piru, CA.
I met the Director of Operations at last week's Cherimoya tasting event and he informed me today that LaVerne can accomodate a small group tour of their 80-acre facility.

Who is interested? PLEASE RSVP to me.

UPDATED 2/28/14:
Unfortunately, the nursery cannot accomodate weekends because of their busy spring schedule.
However, the schedule is looking okay for Fridays.

The date is confirmed:
FRI March 7, 2014
11am (please be there 15 minutes earlier if possible)
Tour is 1.5 to 2 hours in duration (Mangos, other subtropicals, avocados, cherries, citrus....what else would you like to see?)

Bring good walking shoes...Nursey has a mud and gravel surface.

Pictures and video of plants and the nursery can be taken. However, NO PICTURES OF LAVERNE PERSONNEL OR WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS ALLOWED.

Plant/tree purchases will be made available to us. Cash payment only on 3/7/14. I am submitting the pre-order list to LaVerne on SAT 03/01/14 .

If I could meet someone at their house and we could carpool,

You can carpool with me. I am probably the only one (on the current list) that is east of Los Angeles...but a little south. Or I can pick you up from a location near the 10 Fwy and 605 Fwy.
It could be worse...I think shaneatwell is coming from San Diego.

Wow this place is way out there. Even from Burbank it's 40 miles. I thought Papaya Tree Nursery was a good distance from me already.

It'd be good if someone like emegar signed up. He's in Rancho Cucamonga.

I think it would be okay to have attendees outside the TFF....our attending group is still relatively small (< 10). I just need to know count for now. I'll let everyone know if LaVerne needs names too.

OK Warren - count me in! I'll just come to your house and we'll go from there.
If James (Emegar) decides to go, I'll see if he and I can go together (if that's ok
James...?) I'll bring my little video camera too....

And earlier I think is better for getting back home through all the Friday afternoon traffic if that is possible - so the 11:30 time would benefit all of us I think, if that can be arranged.......

I just love the Route 126 that will lead to their Nursery. So rural and backwoods....I used to take it when I lived in L.A. and would head out to Ojai years ago......
