Anacardium humile ( I will post a new pic in a few days , can't find last years one ) For those who killed their seedlings by over-watering you have another shot this year . This is in my opinion the best I ever tasted , not a trace of astringency . Limited availability . Fruits are forming now , the first will be ready next week . 5 seeds shipping included for $ 15 ( USD )

Whow guys , specially Sleepdoc , this is great !!!!  Now , one good advise ...let them ripen on the tree till they turn a little orange ( not bright yellow ) and give a little when pressed . Although this fruit is ' climacteric ' ( a still green fruit knocked of the tree by whatever will still ripen ) They are sooo much sweeter and juicier when picked at the right time .

54
I want to buy 10 seeds.

I'll send you a personal message Zeki .

55
In season , seeds available now , 10 seeds = $ 15 ( USD ) shipping included .

Is it still available?

Yes the bush is still flowering , but there's a long waiting list , right now you would be # 22 , this week there was a slump in ripe fruit to harvest , normally I can pick about 10 every 2 days .

I have two lakoocha trees that flower, then seem to drop the fruits before they develop.  Not too sure what’s going on and I don’t know why I keep putting off eliminating them.
I have high hopes for a couple of two year old Kwai muk that are coming along nicely.

I have 2 lakoocha also , how long did yours take to start flowering ?

Only one Kwai Muk , extremely happy with it , after a few fruitings it produces now incredible quantities of fruit ...and great fruit ...

Thank You Karen , but I am still not convinced ....for comparison my grafted rambuttan for example , same thing ...plenty of fruit and no male in 100 km range .
Female mabolo trees will produce by themselves, but will be seedless. Your rambutan tree definitely has some hermaphrodite flowers which produce some pollen, and that is why you are getting fruits. But if you had a male rambutan tree around you would get a lot more fruit, as in completely loaded.

That's what I wanted to hear Oscar and Peter . Thank you .

OK Guys and Karen , lets put our heads together and the money and we're in business.....lol....( See Oscar's last post )

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mabolo question .
« on: March 14, 2018, 12:42:35 PM »
I am planning on grafting some mabolo just for fun ( I have 2 producing females and 1 male ) .

Will a single female produce and if yes will the fruit be seedless ? I seem to have read this somewhere but not 100% sure....

Grafted ones produce pretty quick. I've got them in one gallons with fruit.

I agree Mark , but my project for the last ...15 years ...was ( that's it ....no more...I am getting too old ) improving blacks and reds to end up with the best that come true from seed and zero astringency , I ended up with about 4 .

Luc you've selected a good black variety with low/zero astringency and comes trus from seed?
Have you got some of those golden seeds available??

Not at the moment Lori , due to my high elevation they take a little longer to fruit .

Only as an ornamental. It is very popular in botanical gardens because they are so strange looking with all the sausages hanging in mid air. I put sausage tree in same league with cannonball tree, also very strange looking and wonderful to look at, but strictly ornamental.

Agree with Oscar it is indigenous to this country and I have never heard it used as even a famine crop only ornamental and traditionally medicinal.

Ah forget it ( the traditional medicine ) , no idea what they use it for Stuart but if I ever need it or could be useful for curing this ( unidentified ) poisonous sting / bite that I got on my hand and 3 weeks later still has not healed , there probably will be no fruit available . Too bad , the flower is very nice and when loaded with pods it is a nice conversation tree . Chainsaw it will be .

OK Raul .....3 years later now ...I got the seeds of our trees from our Brazilian friend Carlos . I talked to him a while ago his tree died and was happy to hear ours are still around . Maybe we should give them the same treatment as the jaboticaba ......water , water and more water .
Nice memory Luc! 😄 Carlos Dream frutas, did you ever asked him about flavor of this fruit?

Can't remember Raul , but I guess a ' friend ' would not send seeds of a worthless fruit , although several of his seeds 10 plus years growing have not fruited , next time I will remember him my age ...LOL

Right now there are around 5 different ones available in the market here in Peurto Vallarta ( all brought in from the south ) so I guess you should find some more varieties in Oaxaca.

When I buy books I usually buy 3 , one for the office to work with , make notes etc...one for the farm and one as a reserve . If you can't find it I can sell you my extra book , in perfect condition for 20 USD including shipping .
