i have already planted the seeds i had, in cups with ancient turf from Estonia, outdoors, hot under sunshine, but nights are still cold (hopefully not under +14 Celsius). Of course the cups are cut around the bottom for drainage.

So, you did not scarify. I shall try to do as similar as i can to your method (2 seeds left, the other are already in cups outdoors). The photo seems to be the young scions of Cyrtocarpa edulis among the remnants of a dead palm tree, i suppose because of the palm red beetle which is doing havoc to palms. But the Cyrtocarpa next to those are alright.

Still i need to know if the pacuri is self-fertile, and how old must it be to produce fruit. If you send me that (the smallest package of pacuri seeds, that is 5 seeds), please also send together 5 Pereskia aculeata scions (you have it in your spreadsheet). How much should i pay you, and by what means (card? bank transfer?). As i saw in your spreadsheet, it should be 20$ for 5 Pereskia aculeata scions, and 18$ for 5 pacurí seeds, so together it is 38$, and what should i add for shipment to Greece?

yes, i saw you wrote you r sold out of these. I just asked for when you have seedlings again. Seeds are available at https://www.rarepalmseeds.com/ and you can have great success if you have patience and skill (i rarely have any success from seeds, so every time i see "seedlings" or "live plants" i m so interested).

Hi! can you send 2 Stenocereus queretaroensis seedlings (when available) to Greece? How much would be the price including shipment? By the way, i have recently planted seeds for Stenocereus queretaroensis, any advice for successful germination and growing? Is the plant self-fertile?

There is a tempting offer here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Passiflora-ligularis-grenadilla-passion-fruit-plant-in-pot-40cm-flowering-age/383251802407 but i have tried 4 times to pay and buy, every time  payment was reversed without a specific reason given, i don't know why. You may try and see if you are more lucky with that Poland nursery. It is said it is flowering age and looks quite healthy in the photos. In case you get to buy from there, please let me know.

(Of course you may try with seeds, available everywhere, this is what i did yesterday, planted seeds, but you and me know quite well that seeds need patience and even then we can't be sure that they will germinate and grow up)

I'm looking for an established Passiflora Ligularis vine in the San Diego area. I know that exotica has some seedlings but I'm hoping for something a bit more mature.

Thanks!
Kenny

Thank you. 80s and 70s at night means 25 to 30 Celsius, right? Surely we have no such temperatures now (April 18), it is expected to be so during June through to August. Did you scarify (scratch, sand, rub) your seeds before planting?
Not sure on the germination % but I got 1 seed to germinate out of about 4. It liked heat and some humidity, believe was in the 80s and 70s at night in a plastic bag with slightly damp peat moss.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Cyrtocarpa edulis
« on: April 17, 2020, 04:32:11 PM »
Hi! has anybody some experience of Cyrtocarpa edulis? I am trying to grow it from seeds, so far i have seen none sprouting. Do the seeds need scarification before planting? Any tips for germinating them? Then, is it a self-fertile tree? Welcome any knowledge about that tree. Thank you.

134
yes i m interested for pacuri, you say it can survive -5 degrees Celsius; if this is true, it if alright here. But it normally grows too big. Can it be pruned to only 2 metres high? And, is one tree self fertile?
Good news: if you buy pacuri now, some will be sprouted!

10 to 16 cm seedlings are alright for me, much better than trying to germinate seeds. Only, i must know which plants can endure temperatures down to -4 C sometimes (past winter here we had no snow and never below zero, but if next winter is cold, it can go down to -4 for about 3 nights, the worst we can expect. So, i keep your address, and please, when you present plants, mention the lowest temperature they can endure, thank you! Currently i wish to have little plants of Passiflora ligularis. (And experiment with P. quadrangularis).
Hi, yes, maybe 10 to 15cm seedlings...
Hey, good news: customers from Florida, USA, received my packages today, so the post services are still working... anyway, very hard times, we dont know what will happen.
I will try to send 5 packages this week
Stay strong!

136
I named those plants as examples only. My question is, can you send little plants (live plants) to Greece?

137
Hi! i m sad because i did not know you before! Can you send seedlings (littles trees) to Europe, Greece? For example, how much would it cost to send me 2 seedlings of Greigia Sphacelata and 2 seedlings of passiflora quadrangularis?
thank you!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Did I buy sick mango trees?
« on: March 14, 2020, 11:57:17 AM »
Somebody who knows about mangos has told me that a young mango to be planted must have tiny buds and purple leaflets at the top, a sign of growing. It it looks like that, some grown leaves dry at the end is not a worry, only the soil must be ample, not rocky, and must receive plenty of sunlight. Must not receive much wind when young, and must have plenty of water if it is in full sun. In short, it is the top that shows the vitality of the tree, and not the big leaves.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Geoffroea-decorticans and cacti
« on: March 14, 2020, 11:48:52 AM »
Hi!
Ggeoffroea-decorticans is a very hardy and very productive tree as they describe it, i have not yet grown it, and i thought it is self fertile since it belongs to the Fabaceae, and the Fabaceae, to my knowledge, are self fertile plants. However, i found a web page were it says
"Pollinators: Bees, Insects
Self-fertile: No"
And it says nothing more about it. I m thinking, maybe they don't call it self fertile because it needs bees and insects to fertilize it? Or is it dioecious, or the male organs open not at the same time as the female ones? In short, i wish to know what makes it not self fertile, if it is really so.
And by the way, what is your knowledge about cacti (stenocereus), are they monoecious or what?
Thank you!

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: Loquat from seed
« on: March 11, 2020, 10:12:04 AM »
Do I need to bring my Loquat seedlings inside for the winter? I know they will survive outside when larger but as 3" seedlings do I need to bring them inside?
for zone 8, even the seedlings may survive the winter, but it is gambling. Better keep them inside the first winter, or at least give them some shelter from wind, frost and snow. Btw, loquat cannot take too much pruning. I apologize to my little tree, it is now standing dry as a support for climbers, after i pruned it too much because its fruit was too small and all seeds. Still sorry, the loquat is a beloved tree, it speaks to you with hundreds of flowers smelling like cinnamon even from the beginning of December in north hemisphere.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Gomera Mango Seeds Finally !

This is sound advice and i agree with you, Lebmung and msk0072. Every start has difficulties, but a little start has already been made. If you can send me 2 durable scions or grafted durable young plants during this springtime, please let me know (ioakenanidATschDOTgr). If not, i shall wait until you have some seeds available. Thank you indeed.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Gomera 1 seeds wanted
« on: February 29, 2020, 09:43:26 AM »
Hi!
the year 2018 i got 3 mangos from Canarius, one of them being Gomera 1, all grafted on Gomera, and they all died. The reason was mostly the fact that the young plants had not yet grown a growing top. Also, it was windy the first days after planted.
In 2019, i got 2 Gomera 3 and one Gomera 1. They survived well all the winter, the temperature was never seen below +4 Celsius, but about the middle of February, when the weather started to remind of real Springtime, the one gomera 3 started to have its leaves dry and now all its leaves are drooping and dry. The other gomera 3, planted in a better place, since about 20 of February, when the weather improved, it is still pretty healthy, but the bigger leaves turned partly a little beige.
The Gomera 1 proved the healthiest of all, still now at the end of winter it looks a little worse than before.
I don't know what is going on, but i can say that Gomera 1 is better than other Gomera types. Also, from my little experience, i think that mango does not revive from roots once the top is completely dry.
Previously, i grew little mango trees from seeds, from tropical mangos bought from the market, and they were quite healthy in the winter, until it snowed, the snow destroyed them. This past winter we did not have any snow here.
So i am sure that if i plant Gomera mango seeds, they will be most successful. Of course, if i get to have fruit, i shall give seeds to anyone who needs.
The bottom line: IF YOU HAVE ANY GOMERA MANGO SEEDS, ESPECIALLY GOMERA 1 SEEDS, OR ANY OTHER SEEDS OF MANGO CONSIDERED HARDY, AND CAN SEND TO ME, PLEASE EMAIL ME ioakenanidATschDOTgr
Thank you!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / passiflora quadrangularis pollinate each other?
« on: December 29, 2019, 02:49:44 PM »
Hi all growers!
i m planning to plant two plants of passiflora quadrangularis, and i have a little hesitation because it is generally described as not self fertile. But what if i plant two of them close to each other? will they pollinate each other? Since this is said to be very common a plant in the tropics, what is your experience?
By the way, if i plant two passiflora ligularis next to each other, will they pollinate each other?
Thank you!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Gomera Mango Seeds Finally !
« on: October 05, 2018, 01:38:41 PM »
Hello everyone, if anyone has some seeds for any mango hardy to zone 9b, such as gomera 1, gomera 3 or 4, please send me a message. Of course I shall send you some money for the seeds and postage.
Currently I have a mango plant grown accidentally by a seed and it thrives, but during the winter I think that only the roots will survive, as it has happened another time with really tropical mangoes in my tiny garden.
Thank you!
