Second the syzygium but the growth habit also looks a bit like garcinia. I’d say syzygium

I think you cane rule out at least a thousand syzygiums straight away.

The growth pattern does resemble Garcinia in some ways. Not a real obvious ID though. Curious one!

the new growth looks like malay apple but these leaves are a bit pale, thinner and slightly different. maybe sunburn?

Not sunburned. Seems that the leaf texture is also more pronounced than Malay apple.
