Atemoya as rootstock?

Has anyone in California use atemoya rootstock for grafting atemoya? Will it work well in California?
Please respond because I grafted Mr Minh atemoya scion onto an atemoya rootstock.  I am in orange county California.

It should not be a problem, I grow atemoya from seed as root stock and graft different varieties of annona, all are doing well.

I got a small seedling atemoya from a friend so it just happen I use it for grafting.

i had a really nice fruiting 4718 (hybrid san pablo reticulata x geffner atemoya) grafted onto atemoya....it died out of nowhere this winter in my greenhouse.

i'm thinking root rot? or delayed incompatibility?

I only have one 4718 left, it's grafted onto a cherimoya...it's doing well so far...let's see if it holds up!!
