Hi Luis,

Nice crop!

Have you tried any of your N30 fruit? Mine were all very sour with no sweetness at all. My plant is young and that might be the explanation but it would be great to know that it's actually capable of producing sweet fruit, as descriptions say.

Hi. Thanks! Yes i did, for some years already. They are acid like a lemon but with some tangerine aroma. They are not sweet at all. You can use it like a lemon.

Interesting brix readings on Sanbokan and Yuzu. My fruits have about the same brix reading, just cut some the other day.

The best tasting of these (Shiikwaasa, Sanbokan, Yuzu) was the Sanbokan. You can eat it like the NZ lemon, not sour at all. I cut open a green fruit and it still had brix=8.8 and tasted like a sweet lemon, similar to the NZ lemons I had.

Shiikuwasha is not sour at all. I just tasted my juice from the fruits. It had a lot of juice for such a small fruit. Also, just checked my photos with the brix, it had the best brix=12, but Sanbokan seem to taste sweeter. I can post some photos of these later tonight.

Yes, that's right. And N30 fruit has a truly great aroma. But I bought it with sweet fruit on my mind and I read several different descriptions which mentioned sweet N30 fruits. I didn't think I would find no sweetness at all in these fruit. But once I have it, I won't dump it to the compost pile. As you also pointed out, its fruit is of good quality and it can be used, but sadly, not for eating out of hand.

Yes thats it... and i always think that nº30 is a yuzu you can eat!  ;D
And i can feel the yuzu zing on them... and im sure they conserve some of yuzu health benefits! The other normal yuzus i only use them to make yuzu honey.

Luis, thanks for posting the Hassaku fruits pictures. I didn't think my fruit was it. I always thought my fruit I have growing is the Natsudaidai.

If you can, please take a brix reading of your Hassaku fruit. I will take a photo of my Natsudaidai and also the brix reading for comparison.

Sweet Spring: "Sweet Spring" is a hybrid of "Ueda Onshu" and "Hassaku" of Onshu tangerines, and is a citrus fruit born in Shizuoka Prefecture. It was bred by the Fruit Tree Research Institute of the National Institute of Advanced Agriculture and Food Science and Technology and was registered as a variety in 1982 (Showa 57). The fruit is about 250g. The fruit, which has a texture like Hassaku with the sweetness of tangerines and just the right amount of texture, has a good taste because it has little acidity and a high sugar content.

Luisport, may I ask how did you understood your Sanbokan was instead Ujukistu? Did you had fruit?
Yes, that's right. And N30 fruit has a truly great aroma. But I bought it with sweet fruit on my mind and I read several different descriptions which mentioned sweet N30 fruits. I have noticed now you writing about N30 yuzu hybrid and I can confirm that once I kept a fruit the longest I had been able to (it doesn't have a good shelf life, similar to yuzu) just to taste if it would have been sweeter and I can confirm it had never gotten sweet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eGwVVbaBN0
I leave the short video I have done one year ago here above: as you can see it just get very orange outside too and a little more than usual even inside but the taste is basically the same as collected in December even in February. It has a sweet pith anyway and used in marmelade it is pretty good even if the jam could be a little dry.
