Hole depth
(1/1)
adriano2:
I find different informations in Internet about hole depth, when planting Lemon trees . I read somewhere, rhe hole depth should bE at least 1 Meter. That seems to much , or No?
adriano2:
To be precise, limon lisbon grafted onto poncirus trifoliata
kumin:
At some point the roots need to enter their soil environment. I personally don't ever want to crowd the roots, but 1 meter of depth would be considered excessive for all but the very largest tree. 20 cm of space beyond and under the roots should be adequate.
adriano2:
Those are my thoughts too, allthough some sources say THe roots tend to grow shalow and the Others mention deep rooting. I guess poncirus does Not Go deep AS Citrus aurantium does
brian:
I thought citrus tree roots were mostly all in the top foot or so of soil (~30cm)? I agree 1 meter seems excessive.
