Those are all really nice choices Bovine. If you change your mind, would liked to know what new choices are taking the lead. List should continually change.

Are those the Pitons depicted in the art piece? Reminds me of Soufriere St. Lucia.

fishy's lack of response is another indication they are full of crap.

AGAIN Let me say that your devotion to the Mangomen is impressive. As I mentioned before the mangos they sell are picked green and I get the impression that they sell many more mangos than they can grow. This is purely speculative but something seems FISHY to me. Cases and cases on the ground ready for shipping, dozens of people picking up every Saturday BUT the backyard orchard consists of mostly scraggly 5' tall trees.
I bet Mr Campbell sleeps very well at night knowing he has devoted followers like you defending his honor on chats.
Have a blessed thanksgiving Sir.

You don't sound like you know Dr. Campbell or Mango Men too well.

I go nearly every week all season, have for years.

Wide range of mangoes, many new to me.

I've obtained underripe mangoes from many sellers. Doesn't mean that is what typically occurs. Could trash talk plenty, but it would be trash.

Dr. Campbell definitely knows how to properly grow and ripen mangoes.

Most if not all on this forum would get slapped down in a mango brawl.

Having spoke with Dr. Campbell about his favorite mangoes or "list," he shared with me that he "loves them all."

LOL

Of course it is bullshit, but he really does appear to love all kinds of mangoes.

As for him stating he is the authority on mangoes, I have never heard such from him. He is knowledgable, experienced, and thankfully opinionated about his career and passion.

Am curious what is a mango brawl? Is it like a snowball fight?
Your devotion to mangomen is impressive. You go nearly every week of the season and have done so for years despite your own trees at home?
Wow

MANGOMEN?
I have been to their farmstand and they sell mangoes picked WAY TOO EARLY.
Zero blushing rock hard mangoes both times I visited. Before someone says THOSE ARE MATURE GREEN. I Know what mature green is and these are just green.

Also I have questions about the where the mangoes they sell come from. They claim that they grow them all right there but the trees are in the backyard of a quarter acre residential lot and the trees are all 5' tall. How do they SO MANY CASES every weekend all season long. I am certain that they resell other peoples mangos and claim that they grew them.

Mid November and we are daydreaming about mangos? Am a mango maniac but perhaps you should consider some fruits that are available right now and add them to your collection so that you have fruits for this time of the year. Sugar Apples, Sapodillas and mulberries are on the trees right now and are a decent distraction as we await our next Mango Blooms.

Have you read Richard Campbell's list?
Where is that found?

Richard Campbell is the world's top authority on Mango.

ACCORDING TO HIM

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Best avocado
« on: November 10, 2021, 04:36:28 PM »
ORO NEGRO is the best Florida avocado IMO. I also grow brogdon and Ooh la la.
Oro Negro is not a heavy bearer but the fruits are big enough that each one is big enough for a nice avocado salad.
Oro Negro with paper thin yellow onions, coarse sea salt and a drizzle of olive oil is SO GOOD.

Check out Al's Fruit Trees in Miami.

AL is the man. That Nursery has EVERYTHING. LOVE it.

Hello Forum,
I have a few mango trees in my south Miami yard and among them are Orange Sherbert and Lemon Zest (which is massive and produces well despite having dirty leaves year round). I love the Po Pyu Kalay (PPK or Lemon Meringue) so about 2 years ago I bought what was labeled as a Lemon Meringue from Excalibur fruit trees in lake worth. I still have the 15 gallon liner that is clearly marked lemon meringue as I use it for moving dirt around. ANYWAY the tree is now holding a few fruit that look like a Tommy or Palmer or something like that SEE BELOW. Has this happened to any of you?

I am VERY ANNOYED as this is a better spot than just about any of my other mango trees have and I wanted a tree that will get large quickly in that particular spot. I will post an update of images as the fruit matures. Please comment on what you think this tree might.

Thank you

Can anyone recommend a source for Annona reticulata trees in south Florida?
Thanks in advance

Am very surprised with the THIS YEAR SUCKS FOR MANGOS COMMENTS.
I think this will be the longest mango season we have had in a long time here in Florida. Many trees with ripe fruit by mid April and many trees with small just formed fruits. I think many people with a few back yard trees will be eating mangos from April to September. This will be a LONG season and appear extra long when we think about last years truncated late starting early finishing season.

That said my SWEET TARTS in south Miami are just getting a little yellow now and still are not ready. This is my trees first year fruiting. It was a 4 foot tall 7gallon tree 3 years ago and is now about 12 feet tall and holding about 25 fruits.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / FIRST MANGOS OF 2020
« on: April 13, 2020, 11:38:21 AM »
This quarantine has me staring at my Mangos much more than usual. In my yard it the first Mango will come from either a CARRIE a GLENN or a SWEET TART. My other trees are a few weeks out.

Which of your mangos will be first this year?

21
MY VOTE IS FOR CARRIE.
I live in south Miami and my Carrie probably has the cleanest leaves and nicest growth habit of my collection of 15 mango trees.
The worst issue with Carrie is that they are TOUGH to pick. If you lave them on tree till they look ripe they will be mushy or fall to the ground. Also this is probably a mango for mango lovers. Your friends who aren't mango fiends would rather have a Glenn or a VP which you eat with your eyes.

I want to see a Har top 10 annona video next!

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

I agree with HAR love Carries but is any Mango tougher to pick correctly?
