This grows as a weed here and I can say it's frost hardy to at least -5C. I tried the fruit once and never again! It was terrible. Some fruit is simply rare but not useful (like maqui berry best left to the birds)

I saw the seeds at tradewind fruits and it sounds interesting. But did anyone grow it or cook with it?
How do they taste like? And the description reads as if  they are a pain to cook: https://laroussecocina.mx/palabra/cahuayote/

Recipes / cook with taro?
« on: March 05, 2022, 07:20:04 PM »
We planted a lot of different taro and we don't know when to harvest and how to cook them.
I guess we cut up the crown and replant them - actually do they ever set seeds?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / myrianthus arboreus cold hardiness
« on: March 05, 2022, 06:59:21 PM »
Hi there, I haven't been on the form for years!
We have a garden just North of Newcastle and the climate is classified as warm temperate but people are growing mangoes there.
I am interested in myrianthus arboreus because the leaves apparently can be used for soup. (and birds are only after the fruit)
How cold hardy is that tree?
Its available at daleys. atm.
