Does anyone in the Bay area know about this partnership yang-mei grower?
Seems like they have varieties that are not originally from China?
http://calmei-yangmei.com/grow-with-us/

I'm pretty sure they've just renamed those varieties for the market here

I saw the California Rare Fruit Growers interview with him.  The original plants are from China.  Like Nat said, just rename them to market here.

Here is my update:

The 2 orders from Bill, total 18 plants.  the following are still alive.  33% successful rate.
* 1 x WuSu
* 1 X DK (Male, the only male tree that I ordered) (Strongest of all)
* 1 X DK female
* 1 X Crystal
* 1 X BiQi
* 1 X late

12 grafted on 3 trees, and 10 of the grafted die included the 2 rootstock themselves.  Only on rootstock with only One DK female and one DK Male grafted is doing fine.

The fruits look like crystal guava to me.

Agree with seng, it is crystal to me too.

7
First time heard there is a Queen variety of guava.  Do you have pictures of it? I know someone people call guava Queen of fruit.

Based on this website.

Yangmei cost 60 yuan, Chinese money almost $10 per fruit to Dubai. Soooo expensive.

It seems like the M. californica rootstock would even die under the graft (about an inch of death) which ultimately may have resulted in the failure of the graft.

Same here.
1 out 3 grafted survived.  They were all had new buds and little branches, and looked good, but 2 of them suddenly death, included the rootstocks.  I still not able to figure out why.

9 out 18. 1 out 3 multi grafted, the 2 whole seedlings dead.  They are out of the mist environment for 2 months.  Only morning sunlight.

Citrus General Discussion / Need help with pomelo split

My pomelos are splitting now.  What can I do to prevent it?   I grow this tree from seed and I didn't harvest any fruit due to this issue for the last two years.

Thanks,
Al

You need to make sure the flower stigma is sticky.  Sometime even you pollinated the stigma but the stigma was not ready for the pollen.

I break the flower paddles to where I can see the stigma and make sure the pollen can stick on it.  The best time here for pollination is @7:30PM - 8PM.  Hope that can help you.

I don't know what variety it is, but it is definitely not black.

19
Yes, it fruits on new growth.

20
Pink turtle- is yours fruiting, what age did it start?

-Joe

Between 5 - 7 years.  My at 5 years and my family members are 6 and 7 years.  The seeds were germinated the same time.

I don't know about pink wampee, but I have a about 10 old yellow variety that I grow from seed.  It is normal for wampee to defoliated like that.  I normally cutted the tip of the tree when it is about 3 ft tall to encourage branches.  Wampee is better with multi branches and cut back when harvest the fruits.  Here is a picture of my tree.

Sweet sunrise required cross-pollinated by another seedling, species, or cultivar

23
Off the topic, is that sugar cane you are planted?  Sugar cane should plant horizontal not vertical.

When you took the tree out from the pot, did you knock lose and not force to pull the tree out from the pot?  It can damaged the root if you were.  Create a shade for it, mulch it and water it.

Jujubes send up aggressive suckers from their roots.  The suckers can spread all over your garden.  I won't put it in the ground.  I would grow it in container.
