Citrus General Discussion / removing water sprout growth
« on: August 03, 2019, 01:51:28 PM »
A couple of my citrus tree (moro and gold nugget) had been under stress due to overwatered, leaf miner etc.  So there has been almost no new flush of growth off  the main branch.  Instead, I saw most of the growth are on these water sprouts that are on the lowered part of the trunk.  See attached pictures.  Should I just remove them from the trees?  Thanks

Citrus General Discussion / Gold Nugget curling and pale leaves
« on: July 01, 2019, 10:00:27 PM »
I just planted my golden nugget 2 months ago.  Since then, there hasn't been any new growth.  The new growth that was there when I bought from the nursery is really struggling due to leaf miner.  (Just spray some spinosad a week ago. The owner of the nursery said don't fertilize for 2 months.  So yesterday I use half a cup of citrus & avocado gro-power on it.  From the pictures, can anybody tell me the macro or micro deficiency is?  Or is it a root problem?  I used the moisture meter to check if it is under-watered and reading is still moist.  Any advice is appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / yellow leaf spot on sapodilla leaves
« on: June 08, 2019, 12:19:09 PM »
I finally saw some new growth on my sapodilla tree that was planted in the ground 3 months ago.  On some new leaf, I saw yellow leaf spot.  Is this an indication of micro or macro deficiency?  See attached.

I'm deciding between these two fertilizers for my garden.  Anyone has any experience with these two?

Hi all,

I planted this eureka lemon on March 14.  Since then there has been flowers bloom and some are fruiting (I will cull the fruit soon)  but I notice at the bottom of the tree, the leaves are curling downward.  Is this a sign of nutrient deficiency?  What could this deficiency be?

Citrus General Discussion / Moro Blood Orange leaves turning yellow
« on: April 05, 2019, 11:08:37 PM »
Hi all..

First time posting in the citrus section here.
I bought this tree in late January and finally got around to planting it 3 weeks ago.  Right before planting it in the ground the leaves at the bottom are turning yellow.  After planting it, I think I over-watered the tree a bit.  Now there are more leaves turning yellow.   As from the pictures, the veins of the leave turn yellow first.  Is this a symptom of over-watered or nitrogen deficiency or iron deficiency?  What can I do to correct this problem?

Thank you.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / caring for young Alano Sapodilla
« on: March 26, 2019, 02:08:32 PM »
Last week I stopped by Champa in LA and pick up an Alano in a 7 gallons pot.  The container is quite light for a 7 gallon.  When I removed the container and plant it in the ground this weekend,  I realized the tree was covered in fir bark compost.  There was no soil or dirt.  So I managed to remove about half of the fir bark compost from the root ball and planted in the ground.  I'm in the San Diego area and it is starting to get warmer now.  What is the watering & fertilizer regiment for this plant?  It is about 2.5 feet tall right now?  I used a teaspoon of osmocote+ when I plant it in the ground.  Any advice would be appreciated.
