I have had some really good Hog Plum (Spondias purpurea). But you don't hear much about it.

Are the urushiol levels or the risk of contact dermatitis/allergy a problem? The descriptions suggest the contents are higher/less localized than in mangoes.

Given that it's a semi-arid species (hence the urushiol, which acts as a waterproofing/anti-desiccant agent), I'm surprised the agricultural uses have focused on Florida and not California or Arizona. Too much risk of frost in the desert?

probably. they are barely able to survive winters on the southern coasts of Florida

The wife and I are okay. Ive road out several hurricanes but that one was by far the worst. Ive talked to Mike he is okay and have heard Jay Reynolds and the guys from fruitscapes are okay. Ive had some people calling and asking if the damage they are showing on the news is blown out of proportion and the answer is no.  The damage to the island is catastrophic people are unable to get on and off except by boat or helicopter we have a friend staying with us now who was on Sanibel Island the water came up to the second story of their house.

Marcelo named it. Him and Gary were telling me about it on my recent Zill visit. Let us know what you think Aaron!

Have you tried it?

I was told it was previously called 20-1

Just stopped by NoFo Groves and picked up a great 3gal Kathy Mango tree. Aaron is super nice, too. Even had some Cackle Fruit (bka chicken eggs) available. If I had more space I'd have gotten a Kwai Muk, as well. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area

Thanks for the kind words. Always fun to meet another fruit tree enthusiast.

Something is wrong for sure. I have baby grafted trees with just a few leaves blooming and seedling mangoes blooming. Do you think its drying out to fast? is it in full sun?

In the red mombins I know of two fruit shapes and sizes. One is about 3/4-1 inch but the other is significantly larger and has a protruding "nipple" on the base. This is the larger one.

ive heard people call those pezon and another one that protrudes on the top corona.

theres a tall and dwarf june plum.

from Fruits of warm climates. Julia F. Morton

"In Guatemala, the variety called jocote de corona, which is flattened and somewhat shouldered at the apex, is said to be of superior quality, and jocote tronador is nearly its equal."

A fellow member who goes by the name Coconut named many fruits "Boca" xxxx. I don't know him but suspect there is a connection. He hasn't posted for a while, but seems like quite a lively character.

He died, I think. rip

Is that true? I remember laughing reading alot of his posts but dont remember anyone mentioning him passing.

Maybe the trees were mislabeled or maybe my memory is wrong it was a few years back.
