Tropical Fruit Discussion / what should I know while growing kiwano?
« on: October 12, 2018, 07:34:36 AM »
Hello everyone! I used to grow many exotic plants but a few days ago I came across the kiwano seeds. I didn't know anything about this fruit earlier, but as I started to read information I decided to grow it. I found one internet site that offers its seeds:
https://gardenseedsmarket.com/kiwano-horned-melon-seeds-cucumis-metuliferus.html but I am considering what is the chance that they will germinate? There are 13 seeds and I don't know if I should put half of them in one pot? Or more?
My second question for people who growed this plant is what soil should I use? There should a mix of different kinds or one special? Every advice is useful for me.
If you could also share your experience with taste of this friut it will be amazing! They look stunning so I hope they also taste like that.

« on: July 28, 2018, 04:23:34 PM »
Sugarapple is one of the most beautiful apples I have ever seen:D Unfortunately only on photos..:( I was wondering where can I get seeds of this plant? I know that sometimes in supermarkets in my city they sell those fruits, but now I can't get it anywhere. Do you grow this plant? Is it hard?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / do you use terrariums?
« on: July 27, 2018, 02:22:21 PM »
hello everyone!
do you use any tools for growing your seeds? any greenhouses, terrariums? I am curious, because most tropical plants need high temperatures and their growing conditions can be very high..I have never used such things for them and my plants always grow amazing. I am expanding my collection now and exchanging my seeds/seedling with other gardeners, so I wanted to ask you what method for growing them do you use!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Growing papaya
« on: July 26, 2018, 06:43:44 AM »
Hey.
When I was in a garden centre I bought papaya seeds. I put them in a small pot and I water it everyday by soaking. I also covered it by plastic bag and I am growing it in neutral soil. How many days does it take to sprout? Any requirements that I need to know about growing papaya?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / regrow pineapple
« on: July 24, 2018, 11:57:25 AM »
Yesterday I watched a movie that was associated with regrowing fruits/vegetables. I saw there easy hacks for regrowing an. onion, lettuce, pineapple and garlic from scraps. Pineapple thing interested me and I was confused if it is really possible? It is about cutting the top of pineapple, leaving it in water for few days and then putting into pot. Have you ever done something like that? Was it successful?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / what do you plant indoor?
« on: July 23, 2018, 06:26:59 PM »
Hello everyone!
I love growing plants but I am growing only tomatoes and a lemon tree. What else would be good to grow indoor?
Especially I would like to try some tropical fruits! What about lady finger bananas? Where can I get seeds or seedlings?

Recipes / pineapple recipes
« on: July 12, 2018, 03:58:53 PM »
Pineapple is one of the most popular tropical fruits and of course one of the most tasties! However, last time when I was eating it I noticed that it really hurted my tounge - maybe because of its juice or big portion, I am not sure. What is more, I have never added this fruit to my dishes (exept its raw form and addition to pizza) , so I thought that it is a good idea to ask you! Have you got some checked, good recipes with use of pineapple?

Tropical Fruit Online Library / Book for beginner
« on: July 11, 2018, 03:14:09 PM »
Hello everyone.
I just started my adventure with tropical fruits. I have got some citrus trees in my collection (they are just sprouting now but for me it is a big achievement!), but I need a book/website that will help me to take care of them. I just need something that will have all advices in one place.
If you know such websites or books tell me, I will be grateful!
