Jackfruit fruiting question

Do you need presence of both, female and male flowers for a fruit set on jackfruit?

Dr Richard campbell told me when hybridizing jaks he baged some female flowers and never pollinated them and they still grew.

I wonder if he checked them for carpels. You often see the other Artocarpus species with nothing inside when you rip them open.
