branch die off
« on: April 29, 2020, 10:38:47 PM »
I noticed recently the branch at the top of the canopy on moro orange started to die off.  This is after a foliage growth at the bottom and middle of the tree.  Anyone has any idea?

Wow, your trees are looking a lot better now.

My neighbor had a Moro for a few years. In the first flush the tree would put leaves on, then the second flush it would push the canopy up. Then it would die back in the summer or fall to the first flush. I figured it was normal, but the tree died a after almost a decade.

More recently I've found some excellent presentations by Tom del Hotal, former chair of the SD chapter of CRFG.

Young citrus trees frequently have some twig die back.  This is one method for a tree to keep the root vs foliage balance in equilibrium.

Thanks for this. I just posted the same question on a different thread. Good to know this is "normal"
