Looking for finger limes in US
« on: June 25, 2020, 10:02:04 AM »
I am looking to collect different varieties of finger lime.  I am located in Fallbrook (San Diego county), California.
If you know of any sources, please let me know.  Especially of the red pulp varieties.

Thank you!!!

Only standard green one and the "red" one from CCCPP available in california (which people on the forum has said used to be labelled pink?). There are mentions here and there of individuals with other colors/varieties but they won't reply here and its not legal to get it from them anyway. So go rogue or start breeding yourself :) On the plus side, they hybridize readily.

There is a gentleman in Costa Mesa who advertises a variety of tropical fruit trees who has quite a few varieties he grafts up. Usually advertises mulberries and annonas. Don't have his contact info. He loves grafting and producing trees including finger limes with multiple different varieties grafted to the same rootstock.

What is CCCPP?  Sorry, I am a novice.

Tried searching for someone from Costa Mesa on FB Marketplace and craigslist, and not coming up with much.  Would you have any other info for this gentleman?

Thank you very much to both of you

California Clonal Citrus Protection Program. Fantastic and main (only?) legal source of scion wood (grafting material) in California. I highly recommend buying a batch and trying your hand at creating a multigraft plant. But only one finger lime there last I checked.

Just Fruits & Exotics in Crawfordville, FL (just outside Tallahassee) has green fingerlimes periodically available on their website.  Have a look.

My best advice is to move to a state like Alabama not effected by citrus issues/no citrus industry and order plants from other areas.
Probably not that practical though.
I order citrus from Four Winds in California... that's where I got my Finger Lime.

Looks like they are sold out for now.

Try uscitrus.com. There are collector out here but some don’t share. Australia is the place to go. Wonder color variety. Citrus traveling around countries is prohibitive..check out the library here for more info.
