Nopales Pads “Papaya” & “Yellow” available
« on: September 19, 2020, 05:10:50 PM »
Nopales Pads with good Tuna fruits.
“Papaya” Selected & collected as top Flavored Tuna from A Nopales farm near Rainbow, CA with 20 plus varieties. Less glochids than others. Beautiful color and great flavor.

“Yellow” unknown cultivar I’m calling yellow to call it something.
Big spines on mature pads . Very refreshing , sweet flavor.
I can fit 3-4 large mature pads in a Medium USPS flat rate box which costs $16 shipping.
$5 per pad . I’ll add extra free pads when possible.
One of the best fruits to regulate blood pressure and easy to grow. Makes a great fenceline and protection for your edges.

Any taste description on the papaya? Taste like papaya? Is it in the honeydew melon flavor family?

Hi Shane, I think it tastes like Papaya, not in the honeydew flavor range. Very good out of hand or beverage.

I have more “Papaya” Nopales pads ready to go. Easy to root and the pads themselves are delicious and easy to de-spine on this variety , which has very few spines.
Also have a few “PCH #1 “ Pads available.

Hadnt bought pads this round but have from him in the past. Great seller and highly recommend.  On a side note do you have anymore ashitaba plants available?  Had mine doing good for a long time but rats took a liking to them and ate them up so badly they couldn't recover. I'm not a poisoner kind of guy but because of that and other species as well I broke down and bought poison.  Im such a bad person now lol...

Just be sure to try and find the dead rodents if you can.  Poisoning from eating poisoned rodents is very common thing for birds of prey I’ve been told from animal rehab places.

I imagine so. If I see them ill bury them or whatever.  Hopefully my cat won't get one or any of the resident rat snakes.

I have a bunch of nice “Papaya “ nopales pads harvested and ready to put into soil and root .
Can do a USPS flat rate packed with pads (3-7 depending on size) , shipping included for $30 total .
I want to get this great tasting, nearly spineless tuna out to the community.
I have been cultivating a ton of this variety.
It’s real tasty for cooking up the nopales pads of this one as well.

I bought pads of Papaya and PCH #1 last year.  I am trialing about a dozen varieties at my farm in Fallbrook.  I was surprised when Papaya set blooms this spring and is already holding fruits.  It is growing in a container and is the only one that has bloomed and fruited so quickly, despite not being watered regularly.  Looking forward to tasting it.  If you're interested in a drought tolerant, highly nutritious food (pads and fruit), that needs no care to grow, highly recommend taking advantage of this offering.

Opuntia is also a fire resistant plant so I'm going to create a border with it.

Of the dozen or so selections I've tried, "Papaya" is one of the better selections I've tried. Definitely snatch this one up if you're an opuntia fan.
