Which is the best tasting seedless guava?
« on: December 21, 2020, 02:44:12 PM »
I saw from a couple vendors that they have a couple varieties.  What I have seen is oval, apple, Taiwanese etc...... from what people have tasted which one is better? I like the white thick fleash that is crunchy.  I don't mind them not too sweet as long as flavor is complex.  Let me know what you have tried and what you recommend

Thanks!

Crystal seedless guava for me.
Emperor guava is another one, but it is not seedless.

I didn't realize there were seedless varieties.  I don't like guavas myself, but my wife loves the crunchy unripe white types, and we have a White Indian.  Any chance someone would know if any of the seedless varieties would be similarly flavored, at the green stage?

There are many seedless guavas around.
Some varieties have fruits that have a few seeds.
So you get some seedless fruits and some with 2-7 seeds.
The seedlings have rounded leaves like their parents.
Their fruits have similar traits.

Some have too much flavor and some just right.
The whole fruit is crunchy through out.

The only reason to grow seeded is to have some fruits to eat incase the seedless tree is fruitless.

Several of my friends and I grow only Crystal seedless.  I can’t personally say if it tastes better than other seedless varieties, but two of my friends vouch that Crystal is the best.  I found that it gets sweeter as it gets softer.  But while eaten when crunchy, it is well balanced...slighty sweet with a little tartness.

too much taste sound wonderful. Around my area it is all big green with white flesh and little to zero taste. Vietnamese love it. When I was a kid I had some red centered flesh ones and there we so soft and juicy. never seen it in vietnam yet.
