Hello, this is my first post on the forum. I just started planting mulberries and figs last year. I have about 20 different fig varieties, and 6 different mulberries but I don't have the Himalayan! I've been reading here how it's very tasty and awesome.

They will be grafted onto a decent sized Shangri-la that I put in ground last year. Should hopefully work out well. I've seen your other posts stating that Shangri-la is a good choice to graft onto.

Yes, Shangri-La is a good rootstock for grafting the Red Himalayan. I have it grafted on Shangri-La and also on Black Pakistan. Both of the Red Himalayan grafted branches are vigorous, large and has fruits after 2 years.

That tree looks great Kaz. I would be a happy man if my tree grows that well with Himalayan grafts on top!

Arizonatroptrees, these mulberry trees grows very fast. The best rootstock to use for the Red Himalayan is the following:
1. Black Pakisan- grafting on this will give a huge tree, mine is over 20 ft now.
2. Shangri La- grafting on this will give you a medium size tree as shown..

Well I have a potted Black Pakistan but I'm not sure the branches are thick enough to accommodate the cuttings that you will send. I want to put it in ground but it would take a few months or more i'm sure to grow to the correct size.

I asked for 3/16” scions and Kaz sent them.
He’s very accommodating with special requests.

jtnguyen333,

-> Only the Black Pakistan, Thai Dwarf and Shangri La can be rooted, the others should be grafted since it will not root easily.
