Hello Carlos, yes its easy to make.  You can puree the fruit then spread it thin on glass and dry it out.  Keep smooshing it around and respreading it when drying it until is all brown and dry.  Then put it in a cheese cloth and squeeze out the oil.

That's all there is to it?

Dang, great idea to make our own! Considering it's $10+ a liter at Costco, if there's extra fruit falling off the tree!

Have you noticed variations between say Reed and Mexicola etc?

Do you do it indoors or in sun?

You can do it inside or outside.  Sun or shade doesnt matter.  Humidity may be a problem there.  It can take several days to get dry if you leave it out on the counter.

You can also use a non stick pan and do it on the stove on low to speed it up.  Or in the oven on low.  Food dehydrator will work too.  Just use really ripe soft fruit and mush it into a spread and keep spreading it and turning it over until its all brown and no green.

By the way it shouldnt be "dry" like crusty.  Its more of a dark brown resinous consistency you are going for.  Theres lots of videos for reference on youtube.

Most store bought avocado oils are either rancid or fake, i.e., cut with poisonous seed oils such as canola, soybean, peanut, or corn oil:

I always thought avocado oil came from the seeds.

I would have guessed it came from the seeds as well. This is an awesome idea and great advice.

I'm wondering if FL avocadoes it would work as well, since they have lower oil content?
