This is also my experience...

My experience is that this tree is a very slow grower.

I agree is slow grower . Here in Florida it took 7 years to produce the first fruit. And I thought it was an insect and kill it.  :-\ But yesterday I saw a new one.

My 1st tree is flowering like crazy. Anyone else's? Hopefully I'll get fruit this season. Got this tree from Trees N More.
The Earth laughs in flowers. And bear gifts through fruits.
No where to plant it ...but at least I got it. ;)

This is good to hear! I want to try and grow this in Bay Area. The seed I bought from tradewinds I received was black. Hoping it sprouts. If anybody has seeds or a tree to sell please message me!

excuse me, is Pouteria hypoglauca really tropical? Could it survive snow for 2 days or so?

I have a seedling from 2017 in the ground.
It was 34F this year one night and 29F last year and was fine?
Last year my tortoise's waterbowl was frozen solid and this
year the ice was just forming. Those were somewhat brief
periods?

I got 4 fresh seeds a couple years ago and put them in damp vermiculite to germinate.
After 7-8 months the seeds still didn't germinate but they didn't turn black?
I scarified the 4 seeds and within 2 weeks they all 4 germinated.

Thought I'd share my tree. Bought the seed from Trade Winds Fruit. Sowed on 5/30/21. Not sure how long it took to germ but at least 3 months.  But the tree is doing great. Keeping in a pot until flowers.
