It was picked too soon so it had a under ripe annona taste to it but after ripening some more it got a bit sweeter and I'd say it has a floral berry cream like taste very mild hint of pitanga flavor. Waiting for more as this was the first year the trees produced.

Do not plant the seed right away. They will not come up . Keep them in dry place for at least 8 months. It will help with germination.

Yea second what TREES is saying, if planted right away will most likely rot. I read somewhere embryo isn’t fully mature and needs 6-8 months after harvest.

More available. The seeds of the parent plants are from Guatemala

soak in ga3 first.  look this method up online.  you can plant right away if using this method.

VOLANT, I don’t think GA soaking would speed maturing of the embryo, which is the issue with Ilama seeds when freshly harvested. GA is used on Ilama to deal with the really thick shell which prevents germination. I believe I saw Har, expert on Annona, explain on FB annona group how critical the waiting period is and GA wouldn’t help bypass this.

Was lucky enough to listen to Har at rare fruit council meeting the other week where he stressed the importance of waiting at least 6-9 months iirc before planting the seeds. Good luck to all!

To update on the taste of the more recent mature fruit... it's excellent! My new favorite Annona. Each fruit from slightly different but overall have a sweet raspberry cheescake flavor and the more ripe the sweeter, and less "green" taste. My son describes it as like a berry flavored guanaba. While seed borers have wreaked havoc on everything around here, most of the Ilamas were unaffected.
