Pitaya de Querétaro
« on: November 01, 2023, 10:01:42 PM »
Hello! For a while I’ve been looking for a better tasting alternative to the Peruvian apple cactus. Of the many fruiting cacti species I’ve experimented with, only a single species has ever really flourished here, the Pitaya de Querétaro or Stenocereus queretaroensis. The plants I’ve grown are in 1 gallon containers.  1 for $10, 3, for $20. Local pickup in Hollywood. Thanks!

*Photo of plants is mine, photo of fruits is not.

@Jaboticaba45 - Sure! I’ll need a few days though to get some heat packs.
@Pandan - That's awesome they’re well-protected! As far as the color of the fruit it came from, I’m sorry, but I’m not certain. These particular plants came to me from Southern Arizona as small seedlings. I’ve grown a number of Stenocereus species (gummosus, pruinosus, griseus) though and can confirm this is the Pitaya de Querétaro.

I’ve been looking for this cacti for a long time. Really looking forward to my order arriving.

So desperate I turned to Etsy, and they just don’t quite look the same. Can anyone confirm?
