Very nice bunches. Doubt that any of those will be ready until thanksgiving or later. During winter it is a good idea to harvest before the psuedostem goes into full decline and ripen in the garage. If they are somewhat plumped up they usually ripen.

Which one is Goldfinger? My example has underperformed severely so if you rip it out I might be interested in a pup.

I have a nice young Cherilata tree that I grafted on cherimoya rootstock last year. Very vigorous. Will probably get fruit this season. Actually it set and aborted a couple last year so it appears precocious. I have started giving annonas 2 or 3 years before deciding on fruit quality. I have had several varieties of cherimoya were very average on young trees but become excellent by year 3 in my yard. Fino de Jete, Knight, and Dr. White did not perform well early on.

Is anyone in Southern California getting good quality fruit from Kwai Muk?

Supposed to be a dwarf.

Season is late fall through early spring.

I will be there. Doubt I will have anything ripe. Plan to bring some jakfruit by way of the Asian market.

Unfortunately the flowers are very similar.

Do Lucuma and Canistel trees differ enough in morphology to tell them apart without seeing the fruit?  I ask because I have 4 different varieties if you include Ross as Canistel. The Ross, Oro and Trompo have very similar growth habits leaves and flowers. The fourth Labeled Bruce is similar but the leaves are smaller, a little rounded and slightly shorter. The Bruce flowers are also pointier making me question if it might be Lucuma. None have set fruit. The Bruce is 3rd year in ground, 8 or 9’ tall with many 100s, perhaps 1000s of flowers. It bloomed less the last couple of years and did not set fruit. First year for the other varieties.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.  Guess I will continue pollinating for now knowing that I will thin later for fruit shape and position on the tree. I am highly motivated as cherimoyas have now become a big Christmas gift demand in my extended family. On a side note my trees do seem to self pollinate pretty well. I have noticed a population of small beetles, dark brown, measuring 3 to 4 mm in many of the flowers. I wonder if they may be becoming a natural vector for pollination in my garden.
