Pumpkin Pie Mamey Sapote Fruit
« on: August 19, 2024, 03:38:54 PM »
I’m hoping that someone familiar with the” Pumpkin Pie” variety of Mamey Sapote can give me more insight into the fruit itself. I guess another name that it is referred to as is the Parrita. It seems that everywhere on the internet discusses the tree and how it’s a dwarf variety.  I’m assuming this is why it is so popular. I can’t seem to find any information regarding the fruit it produces. I’m hoping someone who is familiar with this variety can give me some information about the actual fruit it produces such as size, flavor, season, etc. I have tried many other Mamey Varieties so I’m curious how it compares.

Just had a few this year.

They weren't huge sized but definitely not small.

The season for them was around May/June.

Mine wont hold more than a few right now, it seems to need some size before being able to hold a bunch of fruit.

Lots of aborts this summer.
