Tipping time 🕑 is over
« on: August 26, 2024, 04:26:21 PM »
Alex (Squam256) has suspended budwood sales at Tropical Acres Farm. I did my last tipping today to follow his example. Onward to Mango Season 2025!

I've got a few that need it, but if I want fruit i'm not touching anything now. I agree. A good time to suspend any mulching/N fertilizer as well

Wow, I'm in the camp to stop tipping by the end of July since we have the weirdest winters now.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but why would you suspend mulching? I thought that helps insulate roots from cold?

I have some younger mango trees that I am not going to let carry fruit next season. For those, am I ok to keep on mulching and tipping or would you discourage that?

No, but I wouldn't fertilize if frost is a concern

I'll still do very small tipping to encourage branching instead of long straight growth. We can still have 2-3 more growth flushes before it cools down.
