he is very arrogant and thinks that he is the only one who has loquats. I was able to secure some cuttings from other sellers here who are humble and down to earth. Don't waste your time on him LOL.

I disagree. Kaz contributes greatly to this forum. Anytime I get from Kaz is honored.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Concha Lisa vs Lisa Atemoya

Just an update to the Concha Lisa, it has lots of seeds and taste is only ok. It is the first year fruiting for Concha Lisa, but the other Cherimoyas El Bumpo and Pierce are also first year fruiting and it tastes very good.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: When to unwrap graft polyfilm?
« on: April 20, 2024, 06:22:57 PM »
I grafted atemoya scions and it rained. I had also used film that was not breathable to keep moisture out, however i checked one of the grafts by cutting away the plastic film and saw that it did not take. There was moisture and the cambium from the graft and the branch dried out with out connection. Seeing this i checked the other grafts and same results. I ended up regrafting all the atemoya scions with buddy tape or wax tape that is breathable.

Im glad i checked atleast one because scions passed the scratch test as it remained green, but it was slowly dying.

Is red crystal same as taiwanese ruby seedless?

5
Hows the taste on the larkana?

6
Kaz is correct that mentioned Asian guavas are not very sweet. They are mildly sweet and crunchy. I have had crystal and pearl guavas. Crystal was a tad bit sweeter than Taiwan century but slow to grow and died on me.  I still have pearl guava but like Taiwan century better. I have grafted Pakistani yellow guava and Ahmedabadi guava to Taiwan Century

Is pakistan guava same as arabian guava?

7
Thats exciting to hear. I definately will reach out for these varieties when I have a home for it. I find myself collecting plants in pots and space is becoming limited.

Hi Kaz,

Do you have more than one yellow passion fruit variety? I bought cuttings from you before and one rooted (glad you gave extras). The fruit sample is also good. Can eat right out as it is not sour. Just curious if this is same one or a different type.

9
I think there is a guava recently sold by Kaz called sylvia/betty with brix 12 that is white and soft. Size looks medium.

10
Why white? Are pink or purple not that sweet?

11
Well then we can trade. My 2 seedlings are very good. Let me know if you want to.

Hi, is my first message! ;D
I've a 2 years old Icepeach tree, I'll harvest some fruits this year.

Thats nice. Seems like this fruit has not made its way to the U.S yet. You able to send seeds and cuttings?

Can try Planting Justice in Oakland. I think they ship as well. best

My seedlings stopped growing and are too small for grafting.  I am looking for seedlings to purchase as rootstock and will touch base if I find them.  Otherwise, I may have to postpone any scions.  Thank you!

Planting justice seedlings was $10, now its $15.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Can anyone identify this guava?
« on: March 27, 2024, 05:53:15 PM »
Bought the guava at asian market, soft type it seems. Seeds are hard like a pomegranate with hard seeds, but still chewable. Slightly sweet.

CLOSED.

Is the tree grafted or are you saying it's producing fruit from a seed planted in the ground or with no graft ?

Tree grown from seed and fruited. I named it PL2.

I have another loquat tree grown from seed that I call PL1. The fruits are smaller but very good complex flavors.

Just an obligatory post to remind everyone to keep an eye out for cherimoya variety Rudy #1. An excellent hybrid selection that will hopefully be found and propagated before it disappears forever. Please let me know if you have or know anyone who might have Rudy #1/RH1 variety. Thanks

How many Rudy Varieties are there? So far i heard of Rudy 1, Rudy 20.

I like sharing with neighbors, family and friends because no shipping is needed.

Creating a label, packing, going to post office, takes so much time. For this reason when I sell anything theres usually a minimum to make it worth the time. But what i sell usually doesnt match my hourly wage, so it isnt worth the time. I still sell fruits and cuttings for people to have opportunity to try or get new plants, but buyer has to be considerate of the above.

So franks taste better than black pakistan?

They say to graft when the rootstock has leaves the size of squirrels ears. I get 100 % takes this way.

I don't have squirrels in my area. How big are their ears?

;D I had a good laugh with this one. Lucky you to not have destructive squirrels. I catch and released 3 so far within a month.

I dont even recognize their ears....next one i catch i will let you know.

My seedling PL2.
