The top branches of mango trees are blooming first
« on: February 18, 2016, 06:49:25 AM »
This is what I see. Some trees that I thought had no blooms at all..... When I got up on my flat porch roof I saw lots of blooms up on the top branches. None of my trees show blooming all over. It is spotty on about seven trees. Better than nothing!
Also as I drive around I see no mango trees covered with blooms. Maybe in four weeks in South Florida. Meanwhile JF has been posting photos of Los Angeles region trees in full bloom. Maybe they will get the first flood of mangoes this year. Fairchild will be begging JF and the other Calis to send them mangoes for their Festival circa July 10th.

I think it depends on climate. Your FL this year need more chill and the top exposed to cooler air at night and so they flowered.

Mine in SoCal had plenty of cool nights and so those branches protected by the roof or porch had flower first, then the followed by the exposed branches.
