Heavy watering of jabos and Sabara in particular will not hurt the tree. it can easily handle periods of flooding.

Adding kelp to livestock feed reduces flatulence. Seaweed good for many things.

My tree gets a lot of shade. There are several trees hanging over it. Gets some direct light, mostly midday. The rest of the day is dappled.
I think it needs consistent water. Doesn't like getting dry.
Gonna feed it and water it and take good care of it now and see what it does.

It is actually in ground. The root saver pot pieces were to keep the mound in place. I dug a hole into limestone, lined it and painted with copper paint, and then filled with sand and dirt and stuff. Tried to give it a lot of lower ph substrate to work with.

Here's an update on my mangosteen project:
It's been a few years, and I've largely neglected this project. Occasional watering, and some experimentation with fert, but not much. Dry winter has wreaked havoc, and tree was looking like crap.
So I started watering and hit it with some good ole Oscmocote.
She's bouncing back!
Lots of new growth
Very motivated to start babying it. New growth has triggered hope.
It's been a few years, and I've largely neglected this project. Occasional watering, and some experimentation with fert, but not much. Dry winter has wreaked havoc, and tree was looking like crap.
So I started watering and hit it with some good ole Oscmocote.

Kari is a great, nearly nonstop producer for us. One of the easiest trees I've grown, dont do anything to it. Beautiful tree. As stated, the very ripe orange fruits are quite sweet. I like them at this stage, as well as earlier when they are less sweet and quite refreshing.

Happy to have found some guava and at least 1 m4 still holding. Trees are young and plenty to back them up, but really want these to start pumping out primo mangoes.
Anyone seeing flowers/frutis on m. casturi? Mine has been just sitting there for 2 years now. Not even the extended dry period (drought?) here in South Florida has triggered flowering this year. Gonna put a tv near it playing The Bachelor nonstop to see if that stresses it into flowering. Something has to work, or the axe.

Whoa Kaz! Those shots are sweet!! Really love the little hummers. Trying to catch a decent shot of the ones around here, they are too fast. There has to be a nest nearby.

Pretty young, but growing fast. 10+ feet and in-ground about 2 years or so (from a 3g). 1st time it has flowered/fruited.

My Lil Gem cracks me up; tree is only 13.5 inches, and the inflorescence alone is 14.5 inches. Lil mangoes on it too. LOL!

Those Jorco de Bico garcinias you sent have been growing like crazy, especially the bigger one. They just got here in January. So far, might be fastest growing garcinia I've come across.

I did some Ceci Love grafts less than 2 years ago (August 2021), on an established Glenn. 2 branches took, and each have fruit this year.

Partial flowering and subsequent fruitlets on m4 (small tree), guava (medium), orange sherbet (medium), and coco cream appear to have dried up, or just dropped. Not sure if any are left.
Glenn, sugarloaf, Cecil love, sweet tart, edward are looking good right now, although ST and ed are small trees with only a few fruits each.

Have a pair of Luc's growing within 2 - 3 feet of each other, and they seem quite happy together. Have other garcinias almost that close, all seem fine. I would rather have diversity with small to medium yields vs. optimal harvest from just a few trees. Also, I think it does help with fruit production, having multiple trees. Many garcinias are self-fertile, but often when mature. Younger trees like to party.

Yeah, that is weird.
Growing one tree there, nearly 8 years in ground, partial sun, lots of pods for years. Probably had 40 - 50 pods or more at one time last flowering, at different stages.
Have to chop most of the tree down every year, and it just grows back. Indestructible, drought tolerant, and productive. Needs no care here, except pruning.
