A Dot thats Maybe Not

(1/4) > >>

SWRancher:
At a club sale a few years ago I bought a Mango tree labeled as Dot variety and this year is its first year holding fruit. The fruit does not seem to be shaped like a mature Dot mango but seems to more resemble Valencia Pride fruit.  Do young Dot Mangos look like this or did I get a mislabeled tree?

This particular tree has been a survivor, its been weed-wacked by my wife, struck by a rider mower and yet it still remains healthy and is now productive.

Sleepdoc:
Although I do not have a Dot, I would agree that it looks like something else .... VP would be my guess too.

This has happened to me a couple of times too ... mislabeling of a tree.  A bit frustrating for sure.

One nursery which I truly believe was by accident.

Another nursery which I believe was done purposefully to make a sale.

The bright side is that you can always top-work it if you already have a VP  ...

HMHausman:
Definitely not Dot.  I would say that Valencia Pride is a very good bet.

Squam256:
Looks like you've got two VP trees now if you already had one.

mangomandan:
If you were not SWRancher, I would say "nice Hayden you've got there."
