Aglaia edulis...anybody familiar?

(1/1)

TropicalFruitHunters:
Pretty cool sounding tree and fruit.  A rare plant from Borneo.  The common name is Langsatan.  Supposed to be similar in size and flavor to langsat but fruits much much faster.  Very little info out there.  The pic below is from Sadhu's website.

Hey Jay,

That fruit looks and sounds great!  Were you going to try and grow this one?  Do you have a line on seeds or plants?  I would love to try at growing one of these.  Please let me know if you have access to seeds or plants.

Thanks,

Jacob

fruitlovers:
There is some information about this genus in the book Wayside Trees of Malaysia by Corner. There are 250 species in this genus. Sounds like it is dioecious. Also mentions it can be started by airlayering.

TropicalFruitHunters:
Jacob...most likely not.  Just thought it was pretty interesting.  Sadhu says his two trees fruited and he really enjoyed the fruit.  Only has the two trees and both fruited, so it makes you wonder.
