Does anyone here have some more guava varieties they can hook me up with?
Looking for common guavas...just with names.
Thanks much!
Also, never knew that this thread would gain so much traction.
glad to see the love of psidiums spreading!

I was just at Mimosa, crazy collection of guavas there, picked up ruby supreme. I saw: kilo, vietnamese giant white, century, watermelon, red malaysia, Taiwan white, Thai, Taiwan Ruby, Thai Seedless, Ổi Nữ Hong (queen), Ổi Khng Hạt Thi Lan, Ổi Mật Thủy Đo, Giống cy ổi tm Malaysia.

I'm going to try to air layer some guava next spring, stay tuned. Will try on skittles, long leaf, guineense, strawberry, lemon, and orange flesh guajava.
Amazing. Look forward to hearing back later.
if anyone else has some different varietals, I'm always open to buying.

I am happy to hear it is different, simply because it is nice to try something new.  I realize there are a TON of eugenias out there and many are quite similar.

Thanks.  I am really pleased with the greenhouse.  I have been looking to buy land nearby to build a bunch more greenhouses, but with the massive increase in housing prices lately land itself has also become much more expensive.  It makes me sad to know that 90% of the trees I grow are destined to be trashed because there isn't enough room for everything.
Tell me about it lol.
Right now where I'm at in life, my goal is to just grow the rarest stuff in pots, while I have the main food producing trees in the ground.
Then it's just cull whatever is bad and get more stuff...Maybe can expand the greenhouse one day.

6
And Brian,
just wanted to say well done. Your greenhouse is looking great!

7
This is NOT cedar bay cherry. Much smaller leaves. This species was Identified a number of years ago in Brazil.
Just no one got around to naming it. The last years it was a syzygium. But I think more and more people are siding with eugenia.

8
I have a few more ripe fruits. Seeds are $5 each (I only have probably 3-5 ATM)
I would've had more...everytime I ate a fruit I put the seed in a community pot, but I gave it to another visiting forum member last month.
Frutas Raras says its a eugenia.
It could really go either way but I lean towards eugenia also.

9
I have a fruiting plant. It is a syzygium or Eugenia sp. Ive heard conflicting reports on which genus it is. Its really good and understated. Fruits are mild and sweet.
It also continuously fruits and flowers

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Kwai Mai Pink Lychee in canada
« on: December 01, 2023, 11:08:43 PM »
i guess ill have to keep it in my shed with other plant and take it out during the summer
i saw that it can handle -10 temps so i ordered the plant online for $130
That is incorrect...no lychee can take -10 F or even C.
You can bring it in your house.
Lychee is subtropical and needs temps above freezing to keep it healthy and alive.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that wont happen. Way too cold for your lychee
No matter -15 Fahrenheit or Celsius. You will need a greenhouse.i grow several types of lychee and the lowest they will take is high 20sfor a really
Short time.

How long have you been growing the angustisima?  I have a couple almost a year young.
Several years. I think in total mine is 4+ years old.
Got it way before the Eugenia/jabos craze

Was that a eugenia angustisima? Looks great! Hope you got that heater functioning properly again. Thanks for the cool video!
I think it is sprengelii in that video although I do have both.
Have an angustissima which is super close to fruit and flower...Seen several ones that size flower and fruit.
Heater was a simple fix by just plugging it in again.
Luckily most things are good. Just a few mango got tops burnt off.
Won't make that mistake again :D

Thanks for the kind words all.
hope to add more content on a regular basis. Just finishing up finals this week.

Kevin, it was nice meeting you. I hope those plants grow well for you!

Yes the taste was really good...

After speaking with a mango grower and i told him the story but he told me hey they are probably overgrown kent or keitts because the tree is so old that it only had a few fruits so all the energy went to those. next batch after a few months(not sure if it was same tree) but the fruits my brother brought home were just average/large. the seed never made it either so that was an uninspiring end to the story.
It could be,
I'd need to ask the collector, but my best guess is maybe an improved selection of kent as his tree made large fruits.
Or could also just be less fruits on a regular kent. Either way those mangos were gigantic.

Anyone got this variety?
I know a few sellers from overseas were offering this one.
My only hope of fruiting jackfruit up here...
Thanks!

I just move the propagated stuff into the house.
May want to look into a grow tent.
I think then it's 24/7/365 propagation.
I bought one, but my parents wouldn't let me use it when they realized how big it was ;D

Lychee is super solidmy favorite. Just unfortunately its hard to grow them in FL due to the mite.
Theres also the Spanish limes, mamoncillo, but not that good as in not enough flesh and it sticks to the seed.

24
I was fortunate to try this variety from a collector.
Tastes just like Kent and even looks like it, but way bigger.
I have some pictures I'll have to go back and find them.

25
Getting orders out this Monday!
thanks for the support! most of the seeds are germinating and as always I crack several open to make sure they are nice and purple on the inside :)
