Rootstock for annona reticulata/ custard apple
« on: March 18, 2022, 12:17:57 AM »
Hey everyone,

So I've been doing some searching on here looking at  rootstock options for A. Reticulata, cherimoya seems to be a popular one, as it is for almost everything it seems haha.
Unfortunately here in australia cherimoya and even reticulata seeds/ seedlings are not overly easy to find as atemoya is the standard thing.I was going to use atemoya but after reading it seem they may have some compatibility issues. Soursop is the next option as they grow like weeds in my area.
Was wondering what you guys in the US and other areas where reticulata is common have had success with.

Cheers

I've grafted one to montana last year and its growing fine.
I'll going to do a few more this year and see how that turns out

It hasn't been updated in a while but I assume the information is still good.

I use reticulata as a rootstock for several things. Illama, soursop and sweetsop. They all have taken. Sugarapple seems to he slow growing on it. Soursop grows standard and illama too. Try soursop as a rootstock should be fine.
